The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Valuev takes the fight into the clinch.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

da Silva moves into range and clinches up with Valuev.
Valuev is breathing heavily.
Valuev is working for takedown but da Silva is calmly controlling the position for now.
da Silva is pressed up against the cage. Valuev has hold of a leg and is looking to drag da Silva down to the mat. da Silva avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.

A head kick from da Silva lands but Valuev takes it in his stride.
da Silva cracks Valuev with a big right hand that sends him crashing to the floor. da Silva has the opportunity to follow him to the ground but instead he's beckoning Valuev to stand back up!

That has opened up Sergej Valuev's cut even more.

The pace slowing considerably in the clinch, as da Silva takes a break from that fighting nonsense to think about the finer things in life.

da Silva tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Valuev paws at him with a jab and circles away.
da Silva throws a left jab followed by a right to the body, Oh Valuev colapses and takes a barrage of punches from da Silva as he moves to mount! the ref stops the fight and Valuev is left battered and dazed whilst da Silva and his camp cheer!
