The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Smith misses with a double jab.
Smith closes this distance looking for a takedown but Chara circles away.
Nice uppercut lands for Smith. That snapped Chara's head back.
Smith tries a head kick but it misses.
Chara fakes with the hands and throws a leg kick but Smith is out of range.
Smith connects with a lovely right hand, straight down the pipe.
Smith rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Chara moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Chara closes the distance and clinches up with Smith, looking for a takedown. Chara pushes Smith against the ropes but Smith circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.

and Chara counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Chara.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Chara shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Smith's guard.

Chara is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Smith doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Chara.

Chara looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Smith with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
