Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Jakob Van Tripp!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 1, fighting out of Montreal, Relic Rock!
The judges for this bout are Dillan Fox, William Peck and Gregory Folan.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Rock scores a takedown into full mount!
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Tripp in a bad spot here, taking shots to the head.


It looks like Jakob Van Tripp has been cut.
Rock landing strikes from the mount.
Rock misses with a head shot.
Poor strikes thrown by Rock there. More accuracy and less frantic strikes would help!
Tripp tries to reverse the position but Rock maintains control.
Rock lands an elbow that was bordering on illegal but the referee lets it go with a warning.
Rock lands a shot to the body, followed up by a shot to the exposed head of his trapped opponent.
Tripp wants to control but Rock is having none of it.
BOOM! Rock connects with a massive shot to the dome!
Tripp tries to get back to half guard but can't.
Rock throws some wild stikes that Tripp manages to avoid easily.

Tripp is in all sorts of trouble here.
Tripp wants to hold on but Rock pushes him away.

Rock looking for a guillotine from mount but Tripp is having none of it.
Rock avoids the attempt from Tripp to control.
Tripp tries to reverse the position but Rock maintains control.
Tripp wriggling around on the bottom manages to avoid the strikes thrown by Rock.
Tripp wants to hold on but Rock pushes him away.
Rock lands a big shot there that rocks Tripp but he's holding on and managing to survive for now.
Tripp is working to get back to half guard.
Tripp sneaks a leg back under and regains half guard and is working straight away to try and get back to guard. He hasn't managed just yet though.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Rock misses with a head shot. Tripp uses the momentum to regain guard.
Tripp trying to control the position.
Tripp bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Rock's guard.
Tripp tries to free his leg and advance position but Rock is retaining full guard.
Tripp throwing strikes but missing.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Rock keeping full guard, as Tripp tries to pass.
Tripp works a leg free and moves into half guard.
Rock is staying active underneath Tripp, who seems content to just control the action from this position.
Tripp is breathing heavily.
Tripp is controlling the pace.
Tripp is just content to waste time from the top position. Rock takes advantage of the situation and regains full guard.
Rock keeping moving, preventing Tripp from controlling successfully.
Rock not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Rock is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.
Tripp is looking for a sweep. Rock is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Tripp is trying to control but can't.

Rock decides to stand up and try his luck on the feet.
Horrible takedown by Rock or perhaps it was just good defense by Tripp which made him look bad.
Tripp slaps away a takedown attempt from Rock, before circling back to the center of the mat.
Tripp scores with a straight right hand, right through his opponent's guard.
Tripp gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily
and Rock counters with a body kick.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Relic Rock dominated that round.
The cut man is working on Jakob Van Tripp's cut.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!



Rock scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice.
Rock misses with an attempted head punch from side control.
Tripp regains half guard, as Rock was trying to land strikes.
Rock missing with the ground and pound from half guard.
Rock landing with strikes to the body and head, softening up his opponent.

Tripp actively working from the bottom here.
Rock slips a nice elbow through Tripp's hands, connecting with Tripp's forehead.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Tripp trying to control here.
Rock drops an elbow to the side of Tripp's head.

Rock not landing any meaningful shots this time.
Tripp wants to get back to full guard.
Rock throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.
Rock throwing shots but Tripp is blocking nicely.
Tripp regains full guard. Nicely done.

Tripp working for a triangle but Rock defends it easily.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Tripp wants to hit a switch here but Rock passes into full mount! Oh no, disaster for Tripp there!
Tripp sneaks a leg under to get to half guard.

The fighters are battling for position here. Tripp manages to regain full guard. Nice work.
Tripp wants to sweep here but Rock controlling him for the moment.

Rock got a little sloppy there for a moment and Tripp has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Rock has managed to get both his arms back between Tripp's legs - danger averted.
Rock passes into half guard.
Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Rock in particular looking to stall.
Tripp is looking for a sweep. Rock is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

Rock wants to lay and pray for a moment but Tripp keeps working.
Tripp gets back to full guard.
Rock must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
Rock throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Tripp works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
Tripp wants to sweep but no luck.
Tripp is trying to keep Rock in close.
Rock trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.

Tripp is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Rock is aware though and is defending well.
Rock with a flurry of punches that miss.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
Tripp has his hands on Rock's head, controlling the position.
Tripp wants to sweep but no luck.
Rock postures up in Tripp's guard and throws a big left but Tripp blocks it.
Rock trying to control but Tripp is working from the bottom.
Tripp trying to keep a closed guard but Rock is proving a slippery customer.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Tripp is on top in guard.
Tripp lands a nice shot whilst sitting in his opponent's guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close second round but I would say that Jakob Van Tripp will probably get the nod.

The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! Let's get this one finished - here comes the final round!



Tripp is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Rock's half guard.
Tripp slows the pace down in half guard.
Rock misses with some strikes from the bottom.
Tripp trying to control the action but Rock is working from the bottom.
Rock trying to hold on to Tripp's head to control him but Tripp postures up.

Tripp is working for a submission of some sort.

Rock is looking to sinch up a gullotine here but Tripp pulls his head out easily.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

Rock is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Tripp is trying to control. Rock wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.
Rock tries for a takedown but Tripp circles away easily

and Tripp counters with a shoot takedown into half guard.
Tripp is nestled in close to Rock, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.
Rock is looking for a sweep. Tripp is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Rock won't allow Tripp to pass to mount.
Rock tries to roll over but Tripp keeps him under control.

Rock taking some punishment here, with Tripp in his half guard.
Tripp uses his free foot to push down on Rock's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Rock.
Tripp prevents Rock from getting the reversal.
Tripp tries to control but Rock wriggling away.

Tripp has hold of Rock's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and Rock manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.
Rock is wriggling around trying to escape.

Rock throwing hammer fists to the chest of Tripp. What's that going to do exactly?
Tripp lands a big elbow.

Tripp wants to finish this one by submission but Rock is holding onto his waist, trying to prevent any attacks from Tripp.
The referee warns Rock that he has to improve his position here as he takes two more clean shots to the head.
Tripp looking to control but Rock is working nicely, looking to advance position himself.
Rock is in a horrible position here. Tripp smacks him with another shot as he tries to escape the position.
Tripp trying to control but he's not successful this time.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Rock tries to hold on but Tripp pushes him away.
Tripp controlling the pace for now.
Tripp avoids the attempt from Rock to control.

Tripp working to secure an arm triangle but it's not happening for him just yet.
Rock tries to hold on but Tripp postures up.

And that's the end of the fight!
Jakob Van Tripp showed his dominance in that final round.
Well Tripp has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
