PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Mario Turk (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Mike Smith (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Turk comes to the cage accompanied by Y'all must've forgot. Smith has chosen In The Morning as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Turk with a hook.

It looks like Mike Smith has been cut.
Turk lands a jab, followed by a cross and another cross, as Smith backs up against the cage.
A solid leg kick lands there for Smith.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Smith takes one to the side of the head.
Turk digs a good body shot into Smith's ribs.
Smith tried to score with a low kick but Turk checks it.
Smith throws a wild body kick that Turk sees coming a mile off.
Smith scoring well with a low kick there.
Turk lands a jab.

Turk drops Smith with a hook right on the temple. He thinks about going to the ground but Smith looks back up at him and smiles so Turk waves him back to his feet - he obviously thinks he can knock him out after that shot landed.

Turk lands a big uppercut and Smith crumbles to the floor! The ref thinks about stopping the fight but Smith looks OK. Turk waves Smith back to his feet!

Smith is rocked!
Smith throws a leg kick but Turk sees it coming and moves out of range.
Smith throws a low kick, looking for Turk's leg but Turk calmly moves out of range.
Smith connects with a solid leg kick.

Turk tries to bum rush Smith with a series of wild strikes but Smith uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Smith dodges the punch combination from Turk.
Turk shoots in for a takedown but Smith shows good takedown defense.
Smith misses with a jab, cross combination.
Turk connects with the punch.
Smith turns his hip over beautifully as he lands a nice leg kick.
Smith displaying good standup as he scores with a three punch combination.
Turk is breathing heavily.
Turk looks to land a right hand but Smith moved out of range.
Turk takes a thudding leg kick, right into the meat of the thigh.
Turk misses with a few strikes there.
Well, he's not going to score with shots like that. A lazy body kick attempt from Smith.

Turk on the receiving end of a decent leg kick there by Smith. Smith obviously looking to wear him down.
Smith motions for Turk to come forward. Smith throws a leg kick but it misses it's target.
Turk missing with a left hand there. Smith was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one.
Smith tries to score with an inside leg kick but telegraphs it and Turk is able to avoid easily.
Smith uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Turk.

That has opened up Mike Smith's cut even more.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Turk throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped
and Smith counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
Smith throws a chopping leg kick but Turk manages to avoid taking any serious damage.
Smith lands a leg kick. The shin dug right into the meat of the thigh.
Turk scores with a punch to the head.
Turk uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Smith.

Smith throws a leg kick but Turk sees it coming and moves out of range.
Turk is using his height advantage well here, landing a good percentage of his punches.
Smith misses with a telegraphed body shot

and Turk counters with a nice double leg into side control. Smith won't be happy with that.
Smith is trying to escape and get back to his feet.
Turk moving around in side mount but really he's just happy to control for now.
Smith tries to get back to his feet but has found himself mounted instead. Damn, that's gotta suck.

Turk tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.
Smith is not a happy chappy… he wants out of there.

Turk will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Smith is really trying hard to get back to his feet.

The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Turk's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Turk connects with a lovely jab that went straight through the gap between Smith's hands.

Mike Smith's cut is absolute horrible now. This looks like something out of a horror film with blood covering both fighters.
Turk misses with a wild body shot.
Smith walks forward and throws out a flicking leg kick. Turk checks it nicely though, as he moves to the side.
Smith throws a leg kick but Turk sees it coming and checks it nicely.

Turk paws at his opponent with the jab and then lunges in with a straight, right on the button.

Turk lands with an uppercut that bounces Smith off the cage and back into rage.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
