The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Johnson is defended easily by Silva.

Johnson tries to keep at a distance but Silva has taken the fight into the clinch.
Johnson tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.
Johnson jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Silva walks away with a smile on his face. Johnson gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Wayne Johnson. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Johnson closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Silva did well to prevent Johnson getting side control.
Silva wants to sweep but Johnson has passed to side control!

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Silva tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Johnson wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.
Johnson is staying tight to Silva's torso, preventing him from escaping.
Silva really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Johnson. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Silva is looking to work his way out of this bad position but Johnson is controlling him well.
