The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Ruzinski leaves Cardigan with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.

Cardigan shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard.
Cardigan has freed up his trapped foot and advances to mount.
Cardigan postures up and cracks his opponent a couple of times before moving back into close ground control. Ruzinski looks a forlorn figure.

Cardigan working for a submission but Ruzinski is keeping him at bay.

Cardigan get's back to his feet.
Cardigan is looking to clinch.
Cardigan tries to close the distance and clinch but Ruzinski swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Orlando Cardigan seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Cardigan closes the distance and pushes Ruzinski back into the cage.

Cardigan tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.
Cardigan jumps guard but Ruzinski stands there with Cardigan around his waist. Cardigan gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.

Cardigan looking to throw knees to the head but Ruzinski is blocking nicely.

Ruzinski darts in and clinches Cardigan up against the cage.

Cardigan tightens his grip and picks Ruzinski up, before dumping him to the ground. Ruzinski manages to land in guard.
Ruzinski is avoiding any damage by keeping wrist control.
Cardigan won't allow Ruzinski to sweep him here.

Ruzinski is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Cardigan defends well.

Cardigan stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Ruzinski swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Ruzinski has momentary wrist control but Cardigan slips an elbow through the middle.

Cardigan has gone for a leg lock! Ruzinski slips out almost immediately though and dives into Cardigan's guard.
Ruzinski won't allow Cardigan to get back to his feet.
Ruzinski throws a big right hand that misses.

Cardigan looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.

Ruzinski gets to his feet - Cardigan follows without any prompting.

Ruzinski clinches with his opponent.
Ruzinski doesn't land with the attempted body shot.
Cardigan is looking for a takedown up against the cage. Ruzinski gets underhooks though and prevents the takedown attempt.
The is referee keeping an eye on Ruzinski - much more stalling and he will separate the fighters.

Ruzinski pulls guard successfully.

Ruzinski has his foot on Cardigan's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Cardigan works his way back into a safe position though.
