PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Duke Nukem (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Doug Ricky (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Doug Ricky will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Duke Nukem!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Doug Ricky!
The judges for this bout are Alan Glass, Cecil Peabody and Wesley Smith.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Nukem feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
Ricky wants to sweep here but Nukem controlling him for the moment.

Nukem has hold of Ricky's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and Ricky manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.

Nukem goes for an armbar but he's not got it… Ricky turns into him and now he's in Nukem's guard.

Ricky is looking to stand up but Nukem won't let him.
Nukem keeping moving, preventing Ricky from controlling successfully.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Ricky stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Nukem swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Ricky wants to stand but Nukem has a closed guard, so he can't escape.
Nukem on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Nukem tries to get out of the position.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.

Nukem is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Ricky is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.

That was a close round but I would say that Duke Nukem will probably get the nod.
That's time! Nukem's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.

Doug Ricky showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

Doug Ricky seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Nukem closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Nukem lands in his opponent's guard.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for leaving it all in the cage!

Nukem had isolated an arm as going for an omaplata. Ricky is defending the submission well but is in a very vulnerable position. Nukem Is leaning forward trying to finish the omaplata but decides to abandon it, and take Ricky's back instead.

Duke Nukem overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Nukem shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Ricky's guard.
