PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Alistair Overeem (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Gunner Grant (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Overeem comes to the cage accompanied by Alistair´s Entrance. Man, I cannot wait for this one!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Overeem misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Overeem tries to bum rush Grant with a series of wild strikes but Grant uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Grant avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Grant drops Overeem with a nice combination! Grant dives into Overeem's guard, looking to finish!

It looks like Alistair Overeem has been cut.
Grant seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Despite being in the dominant position, Gunner Grant just isn't active enough and the referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Overeem throws a sloppy head kick and Grant moves out of range easily.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Grant has had enough of the ground for now and decides to stand.

Grant feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. This is the final round!

Grant moves into the clinch successfully.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Grant looking to break Overeem's wrist control so he can sink in the choke. Overeem remaining controlled and patient though - he really has to keep calm otherwise Grant will wrap this one up with the rear naked choke!

You can see the frustration on Overeem's face… He knows he is in trouble unless he improves his position sooner rather than later.
Grant controlling the position well here. Overeem rolled but Grant kept the hooks locked in and stayed in the dominant position.
Grant is trying to stick to Overeem's back but Overeem is turning into Grant. He's managed to reverse the position - now he's in Grant's guard. Polite applause from the crowd in appreciation of some nice Jiu Jitsu by Overeem.

Well Grant has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
