PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Ron Jeremy (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Sammy Sosa (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Well, I have no idea who's going to take this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Ron Jeremy!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Sammy Sosa!
The judges for this bout are Jack Bonds, and Timothy Bukovac.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Sosa closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
Jeremy is trying to get back to full guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Sosa drops back looking for a leg! Jeremy is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Jeremy manages to kick Sosa off! Sosa jumps back into Jeremy's guard.

Jeremy looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.

Jeremy has his foot on Sosa's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Sosa works his way back into a safe position though.

Jeremy utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Sosa accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

Jeremy escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Sosa gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Sosa is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.

Jeremy is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
Jeremy is breathing heavily.

Sosa stands up from guard. Let's bang!

Sosa gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here.

Jeremy taking a breather.

Sosa manages to pull guard. Let's see whether he can land a sub off his back.
Jeremy might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

Sosa has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Jeremy can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
Sosa wants to sweep but no luck.
Jeremy wants to control from the top but Sosa keeps moving.
Sosa is trying to control the position but Jeremy postures up.
Sosa lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Jeremy!
Jeremy is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.

Sosa wants to stand but Jeremy is holding on to him, trying to stop him posturing up.
Jeremy slips a leg in and gets back to half guard.
Jeremy is looking to control Sosa's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Jeremy avoid being mounted?
Jeremy is looking for a sweep. Sosa is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Sosa seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
Jeremy is trying to maintain the position but Sosa is very close to passing his half guard.
Sosa winds up and cracks Jeremy with a swinging punch to the side of the head.
Sosa takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Sosa throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Jeremy's waist but Jeremy gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Sosa off to one side.
Jeremy swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Jeremy lands a jab-cross combination.

Sosa shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Jeremy's guard.
Jeremy throws a couple of weedy looking strikes off his back.
Sosa seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Sammy Sosa dominated that round.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!

Sosa closes this distance looking for a takedown but Jeremy circles away.

Jeremy throws a series of punches but Sosa avoids them all with ease.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Sosa can do anything to dispel that myth.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.
Jeremy lands with a kick to the temple. Sosa shrugs as if to say "is that all you've got?"

Sosa rushes Jeremy and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.
Jeremy is trying to slow down the pace of the fight but Sosa is keeping busy.

Sosa jumps into guard, dragging Jeremy to the mat.

Jeremy wants to stand but Sosa has a closed guard, so he can't escape.

Sosa has a butterfly guard looking to sweep but Jeremy has passed into side control.
Sosa really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Jeremy. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Sosa looks to land a combination. Jeremy sees it coming but can only parry a couple of the shots.
Jeremy buckles his opponent's knee momentarily with a nice leg kick.

Sosa bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Jeremy's guard.

Sosa is looking to advance position but Jeremy won't allow it.
Sosa seems to have lost interest with the ground game and is thinking about standing back up.
