Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between John Steel (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Leo Anselm (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Leo Anselm!
The judges for this bout are Daniel Blasius, Paul Aken and Saam Ante.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Steel drops Anselm with a right and a left! Steel comes rushing in but Anselm regains his composure and manages to keep Steel in guard.


It looks like Leo Anselm has been cut.
Steel is looking to advance position but Anselm has hit a scissor sweep - now he's on top in mount!
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Steel tries to get back to half guard but can't.
Anselm controlling the pace for now.
Anselm tries to control but Steel wriggling away.
Steel tries to hold on but Anselm pushes him away.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Anselm thowing shots but they're missing.
Steel is squirming around, avoiding Anselm's attempts to control the action.

Anselm working for a guillotine from mount but Steel is in no mood to give up.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Anselm wants to take Steel's back but he can't do it this time.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Steel is trying to escape the mount.
Anselm throwing sloppy strikes here. Perhaps if he tightened up his striking from such a dominant position, he'd be able to finish easier.
Steel can't escape the position.
Steel is trying to get to the cage to help him get back to his feet.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Anselm misses with a series of strikes from mount. He'll no doubt be working on his ground and pound when he gets back to the gym.
Anselm thowing strikes but they're hitting the gloves, not doing any damage.
Anselm tries to control but Steel wriggling away.
Anselm tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.
Steel on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Steel tries to get out of the position.
Anselm punching from mount but Steel doing a good job of avoiding damage.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
Steel wants to hold on but Anselm pushes him away.
Anselm thowing strikes but they're hitting the gloves, not doing any damage.
Steel avoids a strike by Anselm and manages to complete a very nice reversal in the process, to end up in Anselm's guard! Fantastic escape!
Steel has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Anselm wants to sweep but no luck.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Steel throws a nice hook to the body that draws an oooh from the crowd.
Anselm looks gassed!
Anselm misses with a body shot.
Steel throws a right and a left that both miss.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

John Steel dominated that round.
The cut man is working on Leo Anselm's cut.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!


Anselm throws an overhand right that lands on Steel's shoulder, as Steel tries to avoid the shot.
Anselm misses with a double jab
and Steel counters with a nice uppercut.
Steel looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
A combination from Steel does no damage.
A punch combination from Steel misses.
Steel fails to land with a series of punches.
Steel displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Anselm.
Anselm takes one on the button.


That has opened up Leo Anselm's cut even more.
Steel will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Steel drops Anselm with a left right combo! Steel follows him down to the ground into side control.


Anselm is rocked!
This has been an exciting period of action!
Anselm is trying to control Steel's posture but Steel avoids it.
Anselm is still in real trouble! Can Steel finish him?
Steel tries to move to mount but Anselm blocks the move with his legs.
Anselm seems to have recovered his senses.
Anselm is breathing heavily.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Anselm throwing some weak shots from the bottom that do no damage.
Steel tries to get to his feet but he's trapped momentarily.
Anselm can't do much from the bottom here.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Anselm is on the wrong end of a nice combination from Steel.


The cut above Leo Anselm's eye is starting to cause him problems now.
A punch combination from Steel misses.
Steel fails to land with a series of punches.
Nice defenses there by Anselm.
Steel slips a straight right by Anselm.
Steel swinging wilding here.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Steel misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Anselm.
Steel throws a right and a left that Anselm avoids nicely.
Steel showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Anselm.
A combination from Steel does no damage.
Steel swinging wilding here.

Steel gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Anselm to score an easy takedown into full guard.
Steel keeping moving, preventing Anselm from controlling successfully.

Steel pulls Anselm in to control the position.

Anselm drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Steel manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Anselm has Steel in his guard.
Anselm not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

John Steel dominated that second round.
The cut man is working on Leo Anselm's cut.
That's time! Back to the action! So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.


Steel stooping low to avoid any incoming strikes and then lunges in with an uppercut come cross that lands flush.
Anselm tries for a takedown but Steel circles away easily
and Steel counters with a left to the body.
Steel throws a series of punches but Anselm moves out of range.
Steel throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
A big right followed by a crushing left from Steel knocks Anselm out cold! Ouch - that one's going to be featured in highlight reels for years to come!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:25 of round 3, we have a winner by way of KO (Punches). John Steel!
