The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Lightning throws a right and a left that both miss.
Kobel swats away the attempt to clinch by Lightning.

and Lightning makes him pay by landing a thudding low kick.

so Lightning counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.
Lightning is looking to stand up but Kobel won't let him.

Lightning slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.
Lightning is looking to take a break and control but Kobel is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Kobel wants to stand and escape but Lightning is having none of it.

Lightning decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Kobel, up you get!
Lightning moves into range and throws a combination. A nice jab followed by a hook to the body.

Lightning tries to reverse the position but Kobel maintains control.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

Despite being in the dominant position, Thunder Lightning just isn't active enough and the referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

and Kobel connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.

Lightning is looking to sinch up a triangle. Kobel throws the leg off to one side though and gets in tight to Lightning's body to avoid the submission. Lightning has instead reached around Kobel's neck and now has a guillotine! Oh, this is biiiig trouble! Lightning arches his back and squeezes and forces the tap from his hapless opponent.
