Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Danilo Garcia!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Junior Tomaz!
The judges for this bout are Daniel Cesar, Matheus Silva and Edson Gomes.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Garcia misses with a head kick.
Tomaz shoots in looking for a takedown. Garcia tries to sprawl out of it but Tomaz keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Garcia manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Danilo Garcia seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Garcia misses with a low kick.
Garcia closes the distance and lands a one-two.
Jab, cross, leg kick. Nice combination by Garcia!

Garcia instigates a clinch.

Garcia is fighting off a takedown attempt but Tomaz is just too persistent for him and manages to trip Garcia to the mat. Garcia regains guard as soon as the fighters hit the mat.

The referee tells the fighters to keep busy.
I looks like Tomaz might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it.
Garcia tries to get back to half guard but can't.
Garcia can't do much from the bottom here.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Garcia tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Tomaz wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.
You can see the frustration on Garcia's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
Tomaz cracks Garcia with an elbow. That is naaassty.

Garcia is trying to control Tomaz's posture but Tomaz avoids it.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Garcia misses with a series of wild punches.

Garcia misses with a few strikes there.
Garcia shoots in and drives through. Tomaz sprawls well.
Garcia will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Garcia is breathing heavily.

Tomaz moves into the clinch.
Garcia is trying to maintain a safe position but Tomaz gets an underhook and turns Garcia into the cage.
Tomaz fails to pull the fight into his guard.
Tomaz changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Garcia fights it off and pushes away nicely.

Tomaz wants to clinch

and Garcia counters by moving into the clinch.

Garcia jumps guard and drags Tomaz to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back.
Tomaz throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Garcia works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
Tomaz not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.

Garcia scrambles and gets back to his feet.

letting Garcia counter with a right hand.

Tomaz closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Tomaz lands in his opponent's guard.

That was a close round but I would say that Danilo Garcia will probably get the nod.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.

Tomaz has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Garcia uses from the top position.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Garcia is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. Tomaz can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Tomaz keeps control of the position for the meantime.
Well, if Garcia is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.
Tomaz wants to improve his position but Garcia is controlling well.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Tomaz wants to get back to full guard but Garcia has passed into side control.

Garcia throws a decent looking leg kick but it doesn't land clean.
Garcia lands with a nice combination. Tomaz backs away looking to recover.

Tomaz changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Garcia fights it off and pushes away nicely.

With the fighters clinched against the cage, Garcia creates a bit of distance for himself and scores with a nice uppercut.

Tomaz takes an uppercut right on the jaw but it doesn't phase him.

Garcia will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.

Tomaz takes a punch to the jaw and another one to the bread basket.
Garcia throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
Garcia scores with a nice one two combo and darts back out of range to avoid anything coming in the opposite direction.
Garcia moves away from the strike by Tomaz.
Garcia throws a right hand that Tomaz ducks under and follows up with a left that Tomaz also avoids with ease.
