PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Erkki Pietari (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jack Ripper (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Ripper has chosen Diablo - Damien as his entrance music. We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Erkki Pietari!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Jack Ripper!
The judges for this bout are Yukihiro Shimada, Shigeki Sano and Yasuomi Hirokawa.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Pietari avoids the clinch attempt nicely.

Ripper manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Pietari manages to get himself to full guard.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.


Ripper looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
Ripper wants to clinch up but Pietari keeps it at a distance.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Ripper tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Ripper has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!

Ripper had isolated an arm as going for an omaplata. Pietari is defending the submission well but is in a very vulnerable position. Ripper Is leaning forward trying to finish the omaplata but decides to abandon it, and take Pietari's back instead.

Ripper has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Pietari can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Pietari is displaying good submission defense - not really looking in danger of submitting to the rear naked choke at the moment. That could change in an instant of course if Ripper gets his way!

I really don't envy Pietari right now.

Ripper is looking to finish the fight by rear naked choke. Pietari knows exactly what he's got planned though, so he's defending well. Maybe a few strikes would soften Pietari for a finish.

Ripper jumps to the side looking to secure the arm triangle…. Ooooh, that looks tight… Pietari is gargling but he's managed to escape! Nice work there by Pietari and Ripper has given up the dominant position trying to land that submission.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Ripper should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete.

Ripper is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Pietari is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.

Jack Ripper comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I've got Ripper winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
