PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between James Proudstar (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and steve brewer (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Proudstar's entrance music is "Run to the hills" by Iron Maiden. A fine choice. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, James Proudstar!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, steve brewer!
The judges for this bout are Cecil Peabody, George Francis and Daniel Franklin.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Proudstar checks a low kick. Bone on bone - not my idea of a good time.
brewer is looking to score with low kicks.
Proudstar connects with a solid leg kick.
Proudstar throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
brewer fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
brewer shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Proudstar but Proudstar pushes him off and we're back to square one.
brewer swats away the attempt to clinch by Proudstar.
Wow, both these guys are really going for it!
brewer lands three nice shots there - that looked like it hurt!
Proudstar throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped
and brewer counters with a three punch combination, finished off with a leg kick. Nice work.
James Proudstar seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Proudstar bobs and weaves and then throws a good body kick.
Proudstar doesn't manage to clinch there - brewer circles away.

A kick lands to the mid section there for Proudstar.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

It looks like steve brewer has been cut.
Proudstar moves into range and lands a nice body kick.
Proudstar throws a nice inside leg kick.

Proudstar closes the distance and pushes brewer back into the cage.

Proudstar jumps guard and drags brewer to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Proudstar tries to land a sweep but no joy.
brewer looking to sit in guard and control but Proudstar gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.
Proudstar stands and throws brewer's legs to the side, diving into side control.
brewer tries to improve position but can't.
Proudstar moving around in side mount but really he's just happy to control for now.
Proudstar creates some space and throws a big elbow, but brewer sees it coming and moves his head just enough to avoid the strike.

Proudstar is trying to get an arm triangle but brewer is defending well.
brewer is trying to control Proudstar's posture but Proudstar avoids it.
Proudstar advances nicely into full mount.
Proudstar lands an elbow that was bordering on illegal but the referee lets it go with a warning.
Proudstar takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
brewer defends a decent attempt at a guillotine from Proudstar.
brewer is looking to get to half guard.

Proudstar lands with a kick to the temple. brewer shrugs as if to say "is that all you've got?"
Proudstar throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.

A looping hook to the body misses from Proudstar. brewer does a little dance to reset his feet.
Horrible takedown by brewer or perhaps it was just good defense by Proudstar which made him look bad.

Proudstar creates a bit of space for himself and sneaks an elbow through brewer's defenses.

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

That has opened up steve brewer's cut even more.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Proudstar is pushing brewer up against the cage, for a bit of lean and pray action. Action being used the in the loosest possible sense of the word.

Proudstar has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics brewer uses from the top position.

Proudstar bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in brewer's guard.

Proudstar content to sit in half guard and control for a moment.
Proudstar has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Proudstar throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.

brewer tries to regain full guard. Instead though, Proudstar has advanced to mount. Uh oh.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if brewer can do anything to dispel that myth.

Proudstar is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

brewer seems to have recovered his senses.

Both fighters are breathing heavily.
brewer keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound.

Proudstar is taking a breather. brewer says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.
Proudstar passes the half guard and he's now in mount! Big trouble for brewer!
James Proudstar is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.

steve brewer's cut is absolute horrible now. This looks like something out of a horror film with blood covering both fighters.

Proudstar moves into range and lands a nice body kick.
