PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Rick Ravage (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and frank Duncombe (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). I can't wait for this one - let's get the fighter introductions out of the way and get this one started!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Rick Ravage!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, frank Duncombe!
The judges for this bout are Tiny Johnson, George Francis and Daniel Franklin.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Duncombe feints and as Ravage raises his hands in defense, Duncombe changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
Ravage is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
Duncombe has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Ravage is proving hard to escape from.
Duncombe is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.
Duncombe chips away with some ground and pound.
Duncombe stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Ravage swivels though and keeps the full guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Ravage trying to keep a closed guard but Duncombe is proving a slippery customer.
Duncombe is looking to work some ground and pound but Ravage has wrist control.

Ravage looking for a guillotine here but Duncombe defends easily.

Duncombe stands up from guard. Let's bang!

Duncombe clinches with his opponent.
Duncombe creates a bit of space for himself and sneaks an elbow through Ravage's defenses.
Ravage jumps guard but Duncombe stands there with Ravage around his waist. Ravage gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.

Duncombe wants the takedown. Ravage is fighting it off but Duncombe persists and manages to bring the fight to the ground, ending up in Ravage's guard against the cage.
Duncombe postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
Duncombe won't allow Ravage to get back to his feet.

Duncombe stands and steps away. Ravage gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.
Ravage is breathing heavily.

Duncombe shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Ravage manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.
Ravage wants to sweep but no luck.

Duncombe is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Ravage is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Ravage has escaped and now he's on top!

Duncombe keeping busy, throwing shots from the bottom.
Duncombe is looking to stand up but Ravage isn't so interested in that idea.

Duncombe is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Ravage defends well.
Duncombe wants to get back to his feet but Ravage is in a dominant position and won't allow it.
Duncombe is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Ravage wants to stand but Duncombe is controlling his posture from full guard.

Duncombe looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
Duncombe lands an upkick as Ravage stands over him.
Duncombe keeping moving, preventing Ravage from controlling successfully.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.

Duncombe clinches up with Ravage and pushes him back against the cage.

Duncombe manages to pull guard. Let's see whether he can land a sub off his back.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Duncombe avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.
Duncombe is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Duncombe is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.
Duncombe manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!
Duncombe postures up and cracks his opponent a couple of times before moving back into close ground control. Ravage looks a forlorn figure.

Duncombe has managed to clinch.

Duncombe tightens his grip and picks Ravage up, before dumping him to the ground. Ravage manages to land in guard.
Ravage has a closed guard, preventing Duncombe from standing up.
Duncombe postures up in Ravage's guard and throws a big left but Ravage blocks it.
Ravage looking to hit a scissor sweep but Duncombe is one step ahead there.

Duncombe stands up from guard. Let's bang!

Duncombe fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Ravage sprawls well initially but Duncombe persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
It looks like Duncombe is going to stand back up.

Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Ravage wants to get back to his feet.
Ravage has hold of Duncombe's hands but Duncombe slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow.

Duncombe wants to take a breather but Ravage is having none of it.
Duncombe is nestled in close to Ravage, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.

Duncombe is trying to work for a kimura but Ravage is defending well.

Duncombe stands, ready to strike. The ref makes him back up and allows Ravage to get to his feet.
Ravage shoots in but Duncombe avoids the takedown attempt easily.

No luck for Ravage with that takedown attempt.

Duncombe lands with an elbow from half guard - that looked like it hurt.

Duncombe wants to work for an arm triangle but Ravage is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.
Duncombe thows a huge punch but Ravage dodges it nicely.

Duncombe has picked Ravage up - he's going for a ride! Duncombe dumps his opponent to the mat with a thud and settles into half guard.

Duncombe takes the fight into the clinch.

Duncombe closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.

Duncombe really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Ravage. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Duncombe lands a nice short elbow.

Duncombe looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.

and Duncombe counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.

Rick Ravage is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Ravage shoots in for a takedown but Duncombe shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Ravage is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Duncombe trying to control the action but Ravage is working from the bottom.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

Ravage utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
Ravage is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
Duncombe would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Duncombe is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.

Well Duncombe has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
