PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Hildon Belfort (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Wagner Cardoso (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). I'm sure you'll be fascinated to know that I was talking to some pointless Z list celebrity before the fight and he thought that Wagner Cardoso was going to win. Let's see if he was right.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Hildon Belfort!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Wagner Cardoso!
The judges for this bout are Frank Dennis, Alan Glass and Chris Downing.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Belfort darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.
Cardoso is looking to escape.
Belfort wants to free his trapped foot but Cardoso is holding on for dear life with his legs.
Cardoso pushes Belfort off looking to stand but Belfort dives back in and keeps control.
Belfort looking to pass the half guard. Not this time.
Belfort wants to control but Cardoso is keeping him busy.
Cardoso is trying to stand up here but Belfort is controlling him well.
Cardoso really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Belfort. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Belfort throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.
Cardoso avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Belfort.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Cardoso tries to clinch up.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Belfort fails in his attempt to clinch.
Cardoso wants to clinch

and Belfort counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Belfort.
Cardoso is trying to slow down the pace of the fight but Belfort is keeping busy.

Cardoso pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Nice sprawl there from Cardoso as Belfort shoots in.
Belfort avoids a punch combination nicely.
Belfort tries to clinch there but Cardoso circles away.

Cardoso tries to keep at a distance but Belfort has taken the fight into the clinch.
Cardoso wants to break free but Belfort has control.
Cardoso wants to get back to striking at distance but Belfort won't allow it.

Cardoso escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Cardoso dances in quickly and lands a nice inside leg kick on Belfort. That did some damage!

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Cardoso uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Belfort.
Belfort thows a leg kick but Cardoso checks it
and Cardoso counters with a nice low kick that buckles Belfort's knee momentarily.
Belfort fails to land the takedown.

Belfort closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Belfort lands in his opponent's guard.
Belfort is breathing heavily.
Belfort throws a big right hand that misses.
Cardoso is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Belfort is controlling him.
Belfort controlling from the top position.
Belfort wants to control from the top but Cardoso keeps moving.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Cardoso has butterfly guard. He's looking to stand up here. He pushes Belfort off him and springs to his feet nicely. The crowd applauds.
Cardoso takes a step towards his opponent and connects with a left hand, before circling away.
Cardoso fails with an attempt to clinch.

Cardoso gets in close and instigates a clinch.
Cardoso wants to break free but Belfort has control.
Cardoso is trying to break the clinch but Belfort has him pressed against the cage.
Cardoso tries to break the clinch but Belfort is controlling the position.
Belfort tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Cardoso just stands there and leans against the cage.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Hildon Belfort. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Belfort wants to get back to striking at distance but Cardoso won't allow it.
Cardoso is trying to break free.

That's four minutes gone in the round.

Belfort manages to break the clinch.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Belfort.

Cardoso closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.
Cardoso is trying to break the clinch but Belfort has him pressed against the cage.

Belfort pulls guard effortlessly.

Belfort is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
Cardoso trying to stand up but can't free himself from Belfort's guard.
Cardoso postures up.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Hildon Belfort will probably get the nod.
Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin!


Belfort takes a nice looking leg kick right on the meat of his thigh there.

Cardoso instigates a clinch.
Belfort wants a takedown but no success here.
Belfort is trying to slow down the pace of the fight but Cardoso is keeping busy.
Cardoso tries a knee to the head but he's missed.
Cardoso wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee.

Cardoso breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Belfort throws a lazy right hand but Cardoso sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.
Cardoso misses with the combination.
Belfort circles away from the clinch attempt

and Belfort counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.

Belfort drops back looking for a submission - "I'm sorry sir, but I'm gunna break your leg" says Belfort as he cranks on the unfortunate limb! Cardoso screams and taps out before any major damage is done! Don't mess with Belfort! Nice submission victory there!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:02 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kneebar). Hildon Belfort!
