Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Fernando Silva!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Jackson Polks!
The judges for this bout are Luis Engracia, Leandro Rodrigues and Mauricio Rocha.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Silva darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.
Polks looks really tired already! That doesn't bode well for a good, competitive fight!
Silva is looking to take a break and control but Polks is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Silva decides to stand up.
Polks looks to land a combination but Silva avoids it well.
Silva misses with a wild combination.
Silva closes this distance looking for a takedown but Polks circles away.
Silva misses with a looping right.
Silva avoids a punch combination nicely.
Nice takedown defense from Polks. No joy for Silva on that attempt.

Silva postures up in Polks's guard and throws a big left but Polks blocks it.

Polks can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Silva controls the pace.
Silva might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Polks utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Silva slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.
Silva's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.

Silva gets to his feet. Polks looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!
Silva shoots in for a double leg but Polks sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.

Silva avoids a punch combination nicely.

Silva clinches up with Polks and pushes him back against the cage.

Silva decides to pull guard.

Polks wants to stand but Silva is controlling his posture from full guard.
Silva looking to hit a scissor sweep but Polks is one step ahead there.

Silva pushes Polks off for just long enough to get back to his feet. Very athletic spring there.

Silva takes the fight into the clinch.
Silva tries to pull guard but Polks won't allow it.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Silva clinches up with Polks and pushes him back against the cage.
Silva jumps guard but Polks stands there with Silva around his waist. Silva gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.
Polks wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.

Silva tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Polks smiles and moves away.

Silva has taken the fight to the clinch.
Polks is breathing heavily.
Silva dictating the pace here, as the fighters clinch against the cage.
Polks is trying to work out of this bad position, with his back against the cage.
Silva has Polks pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Polks manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing.

Silva jumps into guard, dragging Polks to the mat.

There's a bit of a scramble here and now Silva is on top in guard.
Polks keeping moving, preventing Silva from controlling successfully.

Silva tries to score with some ground and pound. Polks controls his posture well this time though and the shots don't do any damage.

Silva cracks Polks with an elbow. That is naaassty.

Silva is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Polks is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.

Silva wants to lay and pray for a moment but Polks keeps working.
Silva scores with a couple of nice shots to the head there. The referee takes a look at Polks to see if he's OK.
Silva throws a strike aimed at the side of Polks's head but Polks avoids it well.
Silva creates a bit of distance and throws down some hard shots.

Silva stands up and we're back to a striking position.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Silva looks to land a combination but Polks avoids it well.
Silva throws a head kick that misses.
Silva throws a mid kick that lands with a slap.
Fernando Silva is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Polks throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Silva moves into range and connects with a jab.
Polks swings wildly with a couple of big hooks

and Silva counters with a single leg into guard. Polks didn't expect that.
Polks is wriggling around but Silva manages to pass to half guard.
Polks looks like he's trying to stand up.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Fernando Silva dominated that second round.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! Let's hear some noise people - this is the final round!


Polks throws a right hand that Silva ducks under and follows up with a left that Silva also avoids with ease.

Silva fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Polks, pushing him back against the cage.

Silva's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Silva fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Silva shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Polks as he avoids it easily.
Polks fails to land with a series of punches.

Silva gets in close and instigates a clinch.
Silva drops down looking for an ankle pick but Polks pulls his leg out and moves away.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Fernando Silva. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Silva fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Polks sprawls well initially but Silva persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
Polks blocking the ground and pound attempt from Silva.

Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Silva is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen.

Silva wants to lay and pray for a moment but Polks keeps working.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Silva stands up and we're back to a striking position.
Polks tries to bum rush Silva with a series of wild strikes but Silva uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Polks needs to keep his hands up - Silva had a free shot at his head there.

Silva moves into the clinch successfully.

Silva pulls guard successfully.

Silva manages to escape and get back to his feet.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Polks will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Silva throws out a token jab with nothing on it.
Polks throws a nice looking combination but Silva bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
Silva throws a sloppy head kick and Polks moves out of range easily.

The fight moves into the clinch position.
Silva's corner are urging him to control the action in the clinch for a moment, rather than mount any serious offense. I'm sure the crowd appreciate those instructions... not.

Silva gets control of Polks's arms and successfully pulls guard. Silva will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Polks trying to stand up but can't free himself from Silva's guard.
Silva wants to sweep here but Polks controlling him for the moment.
Silva looking to control.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Silva has his feet on Polks's hips. He pushes off and gets to his feet. Nice work.

And that's the end of the fight!
Fernando Silva showed his dominance in that final round.
Well I reckon that's a shut out for Silva, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
