The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Xavier is looking to clinch.
Savage throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Savage avoids the clinch attempt nicely.

Xavier closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.
Xavier tries a knee to the head but Savage blocks it.

Savage is fighting off a takedown attempt but Xavier is just too persistent for him and manages to trip Savage to the mat. Savage regains guard as soon as the fighters hit the mat.

Savage has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Xavier can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
