PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Jeffry Hardy (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and the thing (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Hardy comes to the cage accompanied by Hardy Boyz. We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Hardy fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
Hardy throws a combination but it was largely blocked by thing.
thing connects with a jab.
Hardy tries to clinch but thing is having none of it.
thing falls off balance throwing a combination

and Hardy counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for thing!
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Hardy jumps to the side looking to secure the arm triangle…. Ooooh, that looks tight… thing is gargling but he's managed to escape! Nice work there by thing and Hardy has given up the dominant position trying to land that submission.

Hardy has had enough of the ground for now and decides to stand.

Hardy goes for an armbar here - this could be all over! But no, thing has escaped beautifully and is now on top in side control! Oh, that's unlucky for Hardy but great work by thing.

Hardy tries to roll over but thing keeps him under control.

thing is trying to control the action in half guard but Hardy is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
thing throws a body kick that misses.
Hardy wants to clinch up but thing keeps it at a distance.
Hardy tries for a takedown but thing sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.

thing moves out of range of the leg kick from Hardy.
thing misses with a kick to the body

and Hardy counters with a nice double leg into half guard.
thing is looking to escape.
Hardy thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed thing's head.
Hardy is trying to control. thing wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.
thing is doing well to avoid being mounted. He's controlling the position at the moment.

That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.

thing tries to close the distance and clinch up but Hardy swats him away and circles back towards the center.

and thing counters with a straight punch to the midsection.
thing tries to score with an inside leg kick but telegraphs it and Hardy is able to avoid easily.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

thing lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Hardy circles away quickly and effectively.
thing is breathing heavily.
Hardy shoots in and drives through. thing sprawls well.

thing misses with a wild combination.

Hardy scores a takedown into full mount!
Hardy is looking to stand but Hardy has his arms wrapped tightly around him, looking to prevent the damage.

Hardy goes for an armbar but thing turns quickly into his guard - lovely anticipation from thing.
Hardy keeping moving, preventing thing from controlling successfully.

Hardy throws a couple of weedy looking strikes off his back.

thing wanted to stand there but Hardy had control of the position.

Hardy had isolated an arm as going for an omaplata. thing is defending the submission well but is in a very vulnerable position. Hardy Is leaning forward trying to finish the omaplata but decides to abandon it, and take thing's back instead.
thing trying to control the hands but Hardy breaks the grip.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
thing holding both Hardy 's hands and preventing any damage.
thing tries to roll but Hardy sticks to his back.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Hardy is trying to stick to thing's back but thing is turning into Hardy. He's managed to reverse the position - now he's in Hardy's guard. Polite applause from the crowd in appreciation of some nice Jiu Jitsu by thing.

A close second round but the thing will probably get the nod - 10:9.
That's time! Hardy's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. The crowd applaud as we get ready to start the final round!

so Hardy counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.
Hardy wants to control from the top but thing keeps moving.

Hardy has a momentary lapse of concentration, allowing thing to throw up a leg and lock on what appears to be a pretty tight triangle! Hardy is fighting it off but it's all too little too late - thing pulls down on the head and he's put Hardy to sleep! This one is all over!
