Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Melvis Maximus (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Rodrigo Caneiro (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Melvis Maximus could well score a knockout today. He has the power to get to Rodrigo Caneiro's chin.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Maximus fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Maximus tries a head kick but it misses.
Caneiro throws a nice hook to the body that draws an oooh from the crowd.
Caneiro shoots in for a double leg but Maximus sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Maximus uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Caneiro.
Maximus walks straight into a jab right on the nose. That one stung - he's blinking and trying to clear his head.

Caneiro throws a shot from downtown. Maximus moves away and avoids it.
Maximus lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Caneiro circles away quickly and effectively.
Maximus throws a wild combination but nothing lands.

Caneiro shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Maximus manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Maximus is in all sorts of trouble here.

Caneiro is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. Maximus can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.

Caneiro has hold of Maximus's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and Maximus manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.

Caneiro dives in and grabs Maximus's left leg, looking for a takedown. Maximus pushes down on Caneiro's head and hops out.
Melvis Maximus seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Caneiro throws a right hand that Maximus ducks under and follows up with a left that Maximus also avoids with ease.

Maximus tries to bum rush Caneiro with a series of wild strikes but Caneiro uses good footwork to avoid the assault.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Caneiro drops back looking for a leg! Maximus is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Maximus manages to kick Caneiro off! Caneiro jumps back into Maximus's guard.

Caneiro is delighted and gyrates infront of the ring girls. They seem to like the attention - it'll be interesting to see if Caneiro hooks up with any of them at the after show party.
