The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Nice takedown defense from Treetops. No joy for Roque on that attempt.
Treetops looks to land a combination but Roque avoids it well.
Treetops scores with a jab. Roque acknowledges it with a nod of the head.
Roque feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
Roque drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Roque jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
Roque sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Treetops's guard.

Treetops bucks up and throws Roque to the side - he's got back to his feet. Great escape!

and Roque counters with a nice double leg into guard.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Treetops tries to kick Roque off but Roque keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.
Roque passes the guard and advances to mount!
Roque jumps to the side looking to secure the arm triangle…. Ooooh, that looks tight… Treetops is gargling but he's managed to escape! Nice work there by Treetops and Roque has given up the dominant position trying to land that submission.
