PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Snap Pop (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Viktor Helsberg (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Pop has a slight injury, which hopefully won't affect the fight too much. I don't know about you partner, but I'm pumped for this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Snap Pop!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 1, fighting out of Montreal, Viktor Helsberg!
The judges for this bout are Dillan Fox, Robert Douchet and Trevor Gratis.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Pop decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
Pop is breathing heavily.
Pop thows a huge punch but Helsberg dodges it nicely.
Helsberg is trying to stand back up but Pop is controlling him
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Pop is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.
Helsberg is trying to stand up here but Pop is controlling him well.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Helsberg tries to close the distance and clinch but Pop swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Pop shoots in for a takedown but Helsberg shows good takedown defense.
Helsberg tries to clinch up but Pop circles away and keeps his distance.

Helsberg darts in and clinches Pop up against the cage.
Helsberg scores with a knee to the head.
Helsberg unloads a knee to the mid-section. Pop lets out a prehistoric sounding urrrrgh.
The fighters are pressed against the cage, as the pace of the fight slows.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Helsberg is trying to slow down the pace in the clinch, to catch his breath.
Pop tries for a takedown. No joy.
Knees to the body from Helsberg.
Pop takes a knee right on the jaw!
Pop goes for a takedown attempt but Helsberg pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Snap Pop. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Helsberg tries to close the distance and clinch but Pop swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.

Helsberg gets caught flat footed, as Pop shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.

Pop is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.
Helsberg wants to stand and escape but Pop is having none of it.
Helsberg is using up a lot of energy trying to get back to his feet. Perhaps he should improve his position first.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Helsberg really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Pop. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Pop wants to control from the top but Helsberg keeps moving.
Helsberg is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Pop is controlling him.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.

Helsberg gets in close and instigates a clinch.
Pop goes for a takedown in the clinch but Helsberg prevents it.

Pop has dropped down and is working for a takedown. Helsberg is trying to keep an underhook but Pop manages to get the takedown into half guard.

Pop is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Helsberg sees it coming and defends easily.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Pop looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Pop is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Helsberg sees it coming and defends easily.
Helsberg wants to get back to his feet.
Pop trying to control the action but Helsberg is working from the bottom.

Pop is trying for a kimura here. Helsberg looks like he's in a lot of pain... and he's tapping out! Pop wins by kimura!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:01 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kimura). Snap Pop!
