Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Carlos Guerrero (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Bret Mullock (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Guerrero comes into the arena with Julio Iglesias - Pobre Diablo blaring out of the sound system. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Carlos Guerrero!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Bret Mullock!
The judges for this bout are Hugh Johnson, Bruno Hogan and Eliza Hachem.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Guerrero shoots in and drives through. Mullock sprawls well.
Mullock scores with a reasonable looking shot to the body. Guerrero doesn't seem bothered though.
Guerrero fails to land the takedown.

Mullock darts in and clinches Guerrero up against the cage.
Mullock looking to throw knees to the head but Guerrero is blocking nicely.
Guerrero fails to pull the fight into his guard.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Carlos Guerrero. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Guerrero tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Mullock smiles and moves away.
Guerrero takes a jab right on the kisser.


It looks like Carlos Guerrero has been cut.
Guerrero closes the distance and clinches up with Mullock, looking for a takedown. Guerrero pushes Mullock against the cage but Mullock circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Guerrero fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.

Guerrero shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Mullock as he jumps to the side.
Guerrero is breathing heavily.
Guerrero avoids the clinch attempt nicely.

Mullock rushes Guerrero and presses him up against the cage.

Mullock looks to throw an elbow but misses.
Mullock throws a knee to the head but misses.
Mullock connects with a knee to the head.

Mullock manages to break the clinch.
Mullock changes levels and scores with a jab to the body.
Mullock fakes a head shot and lands one to the body.
Mullock dances in quickly and lands a nice inside leg kick on Guerrero. That did some damage!

Mullock drives through and clinches with Guerrero against the cage.
Guerrero tries to break the clinch but Mullock is controlling the position.
The pace slowing considerably in the clinch, as Mullock takes a break from that fighting nonsense to think about the finer things in life.
Mullock continues to stall. The referee tells him to work or he's going to break them up.
Mullock connects with a nasty looking knee right to Guerrero's face.
Mullock pushes off and fires off an elbow that misses, before clinching up again, against the cage.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Guerrero avoiding damage as Mullock throws knees to the body.

The pace really dropping off here, momentarily.
Guerrero fails to pull the fight into his guard.
Mullock throws an elbow but it's blocked.
Mullock prevents the takedown attempt.

Mullock breaks from the clinch.
Mullock circles away from the clinch attempt
and Mullock counters with a nice body shot.

Mullock clinches up against the cage.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Mullock is trying to slow down the pace of the fight but Guerrero is keeping busy.
Mullock has Guerrero pushed against the cage.

Guerrero ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Guerrero no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.

Guerrero is active off his back here, looking for submissions.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Guerrero has a closed guard, preventing Mullock from standing up.
Guerrero might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Guerrero is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Guerrero has his foot on Mullock's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Mullock works his way back into a safe position though.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Bret Mullock dominated that round.

That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.



Guerrero tries to keep at a distance but Mullock has taken the fight into the clinch.
Mullock lands a nice knee to the body.
Mullock pushes off and fires off an elbow that misses, before clinching up again, against the cage.

Guerrero tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Mullock just stands there and leans against the cage.
Guerrero drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Mullock gets the underhooks and prevents it.
Mullock with the Thai clinch. He's looking to land a big knee but he's not managed it this time.
Mullock looking to throw knees to the head but Guerrero is blocking nicely.
Good anti-grappling being displayed by Guerrero as Mullock tries to tie him up.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Guerrero pulls guard effortlessly.

Mullock has a momentary lapse of concentration, allowing Guerrero to throw up a leg and lock on what appears to be a pretty tight triangle! Mullock is fighting it off but it's all too little too late - Guerrero pulls down on the head and he's put Mullock to sleep! This one is all over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:01 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Triangle). Carlos Guerrero!
