The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Oliveira closes the distance and clinches up with Von der Rib, looking for a takedown. Oliveira pushes Von der Rib against the cage but Von der Rib circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Oliveira circles away from the clinch attempt.
Von der Rib leaves Oliveira with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.

Von der Rib lands with an uppercut that bounces Oliveira off the cage and back into rage.
Both fighters are looking to counter, which isn't making for the most exciting fight in the world.
Oliveira steps to his left, right into the path of a big body kick from Von der Rib. That one must have hurt.

Von der Rib lands with a nice body punch.
Von der Rib scores with a nice looking left hook and follows it up with an uppercut!
It looks like Joao Oliveira has been cut.
Von der Rib displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Oliveira.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Joao Oliveira. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Oliveira looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Oliveira shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than Oliveira was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!

Von der Rib is flailing around, obviously not happy about being mounted. Oliveira locks hold of one of his arms and spins for an armbar. He's got it! Von der Rib is forced to tap!
