Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Elijah Bernal!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Wishon Mourinho!
The judges for this bout are Anthony Taglia, Lou da Vinci and John Kavanagh.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Bernal throws a head kick that looked like it stung.
Bernal lands with a nice body kick.
Mourinho dips down and scores with a jab to the body.
That kick from Bernal tenderised Mourinho's leg. Mourinho is trying to keep his angry face on.
Mourinho tries to close the distance and clinch up but Bernal swats him away and circles back towards the center.
It looked like Bernal was looking amped, ready to throw a big counter but didn't commit.
Bernal connects with a leg kick.
Bernal looking to land some kicks to the body here.
Mourinho shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Bernal but Bernal pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Mourinho chopped to the floor by a nice leg kick but he springs right back up before Bernal can pounce on him.
Bernal scores with a slapping inside leg kick.
Bernal misses with a low kick as Mourinho jumps back.
Bernal takes a head kick and keeps coming.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Mourinho closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.
Bernal works for the underhooks and manages to get a trip takedown into guard.
Mourinho is scooting his butt against the cage and has managed to get back to his feet. Bernal presses him back against the cage, presumably looking to take the fight back to the mat.
That's one minute gone in the round.
Bernal gets the body lock takedown. After a quick scramble, Mourinho regains guard.
Mourinho kicks Bernal off and gets to his feet.
Mourinho scores with a kick to the midsection.
Bernal with the inside leg kick.
Mourinho closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Mourinho has an Americana. Bernal didn't react quickly enough there and he's in big trouble now! He tries to squirm out but is forced to tap! Mourinho is delighted and gyrates in front of the ring girls. They seem to like the attention - it'll be interesting to see if Mourinho hooks up with any of them at the after show party.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:40 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Americana). Wishon Mourinho!
A very excited looking Wishon Mourinho made sure he remembered to thank all the fans both in the arena and on the internet. He said all the coolest people spend all day on MMA websites, which got a big reaction.
