Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Heraclio Cabrera (ranked 333 p4p, 811 weight class) and Chad Hammer (ranked 45 p4p, 110 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Cabrera keeping his hands up high there, blocking the jab from Hammer.
No joy there for Hammer, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Hammer listening to his corner there, landing a nice uppercut.
Cabrera walks straight into an uppercut. Luckily it didn't land flush.
Hammer throws an off balance right hand
and Cabrera counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.
Hammer throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Cabrera moves out of range of the strikes.
Cabrera throws out a leg kick but Hammer moves out of range and Cabrera only half commits.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Hammer tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Cabrera just stands there and leans against the cage.
Cabrera swings wildly with an uppercut but Hammer uses good head movement to avoid it.
Hammer is looking to control Cabrera's arms but Cabrera gets an underhook and turns him. Now Hammer has his back to the cage.

Hammer's head jolts backwards as he takes an uppercut right on the button!
Cabrera stays in close to his opponent and throws a right hand to the body.
Hammer jumps guard but Cabrera stands there with Hammer around his waist. Hammer gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.

Cabrera feints a straight left to the body, then turns around with a flashy move and hits Hammers jaw with a dramatic spinning back fist!

Hammer takes a swing at Cabrera's ribcage but misses.

and Hammer counters with a two punch combo.
A looping hook to the body misses from Cabrera. Hammer does a little dance to reset his feet.
Cabrera walks straight into a jab right on the nose. That one stung - he's blinking and trying to clear his head.

It looks like Heraclio Cabrera has been cut.
Hammer throws a jab but it's blocked by Cabrera.
Hammer connects nicely with a jab. Noted by the judges no doubt.

Cabrera throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.

Hammer throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Cabrera sees it coming and avoids it easily.

Cabrera clinches up with Hammer and pushes him back against the cage.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Cabrera tries to bum rush Hammer with a series of wild strikes but Hammer uses good footwork to avoid the assault.

A little feinted left hand from Cabrera on the counter but he doesn't commit to it.

Cabrera takes the fight into the clinch.
Hammer jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Cabrera walks away with a smile on his face. Hammer gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.
Cabrera fakes a couple of low kicks, before throwing one on the third attempt. It connects and Hammer has to reset his feet before getting ready to engage.

and Cabrera counters with a thumping low kick.
The fighters circling - Hammer throws out the jab but it was never going to land.

Some bone on bone action there as Hammer checks a low kick. Luckily it wasn't a particularly hard one.

Cabrera fakes a right and follows up with a big left that drops Hammer to one knee - oooooh, he's wobbly! Hammer looks to clinch but Cabrera throws him off and pummels him into the canvas! Hammer taps out under the strikes! The fight is over!
