Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Tre Jokinen (ranked 1599 p4p, 1281 weight class) and Kotetsu Yama (ranked 151 p4p, 119 weight class). I can't wait for this one - let's get the fighter introductions out of the way and get this one started!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 10 - 8 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Tre Jokinen!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 9 - 5 - 0, fighting out of New York, Kotetsu Yama!
The judges for this bout are Alec Ball, Yves DeLean and Trevor Gratis.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Yama thuds his right hand into Jokinen's forehead from close range. That could be painful for both fighters.
Jokinen takes an uppercut right on the jaw but it doesn't phase him.
We can't be sure of the tactics at this early stage but we have heard that Yama has been working on his takedowns a lot in the buildup to the fight and we can only assume he's going to look to take this to the mat.
Yama with poor footwork there. He got himself in a bit of a tangle, enabling Jokinen to score with a decent uppercut.
Jokinen gets cracked with a nice right hand there by Yama.
Jokinen displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Yama throws out the jab.
We've been hearing reports that Jokinen has been drilling takedowns in recent sessions so let's see if that has an impact on the result of this fight.
Jokinen ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Yama moves away.

Yama regains full guard, whilst avoiding punches from Jokinen.
Yama escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Jokinen gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Yama wants to improve his position but Jokinen is controlling well.
Yama is trying to maintain the position but Jokinen is very close to passing his half guard.
Jokinen is looking to pass the guard... He's managed it - he's now in full mount!
Jokinen is landing with some decent strikes but Yama is trying to advance his position so the referee is letting the fight continue.

Yama is looking to improve his position but Jokinen isn't that keen on the idea.
Jokinen has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Jokinen takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
BOOM! Jokinen connects with a massive shot to the dome!

Yama is in all sorts of trouble here.

Yama is bucking up trying to escape but Jokinen cracks him with another couple of good strikes.
Jokinen lands an elbow that was bordering on illegal but the referee lets it go with a warning.
Jokinen unloads with some vicious shots from mount and Yama wants out - he looks towards the referee who steps in to save him! Jokinen celebrates on the cage and the crowd goes wild!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 8:41 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Tre Jokinen!
An out of breath Tre Jokinen thanked his loyal fans in his post fight interview, giving them credit for his success over the course of his career.
