Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Anthony Meuniex (ranked 4654 p4p, 25506 weight class) and Jake Phipps (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters will be looking to make this an exciting fight for the fans, I'm sure!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Anthony Meuniex!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 3 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Jake Phipps!
The judges for this bout are Peter Branson, Santiago Holmes and Dirk Anderson.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Phipps shoots in for a double leg but Meuniex sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Meuniex definitely looks more muscular than last time we saw him fight.

Phipps is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Meuniex's half guard.
Phipps wants to get back to his feet.
Meuniex scrambles, trying to get to his feet, but Phipps manages to mount him!
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Phipps controlling his opponent.
Meuniex knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Phipps on the ground.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Meuniex is trying to get to the cage to help him get back to his feet.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Phipps jumps to the side looking to secure the arm triangle…. Ooooh, that looks tight… Meuniex is gargling but he's managed to escape! Nice work there by Meuniex and Phipps has given up the dominant position trying to land that submission.
Meuniex is letting Phipps control him for a moment.

Phipps is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Meuniex knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Phipps prevents Meuniex from escaping the position.
Meuniex being controlled for a moment.
Meuniex dodges the ground and pound from Phipps.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Meuniex is pushing Phipps's head away, looking to escape. Phipps manages to hold on to the position though.
Phipps sitting in side control, looking to soften his opponent up with elbows and hammerfists but Meuniex is avoiding damage well and looking to escape the position.
Phipps tries to move into full mount but can't pass Meuniex's legs.

Phipps decides to stand up, so the ref orders Meuniex to his feet.
Meuniex lands a head kick. Phipps smiles back at him and beckons him forward.

Phipps clinches.

Phipps pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Phipps has his takedown stuffed
enabling Meuniex to counter with a crisp jab.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Meuniex throws a head kick that Phipps semi-blocks.
Meuniex fakes a jab and then connects with a hook.

Phipps moves into the clinch successfully.
Phipps fails to pull guard.
Anthony Meuniex has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Jake Phipps.
Phipps slows down the pace here.
Phipps has Meuniex pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Meuniex manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

Phipps is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Phipps escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Jake Phipps will probably get the nod.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.

A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Phipps.

and Meuniex counters with a nice uppercut.
Jake Phipps seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Phipps takes a body kick right on the floating rib. Ouchie.
Jake Phipps is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Phipps gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily
and Meuniex counters with a shot to the ribs. That looked like it hurt.
Anthony Meuniex has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Jake Phipps.
Meuniex throws a head kick that Phipps semi-blocks.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Meuniex scores with a reasonable looking shot to the body. Phipps doesn't seem bothered though.
Phipps throws a right hand that misses
and Meuniex counters with a left right combination that sends Phipps crashing to the mat - Meuniex wastes no time in diving on top of him and pounding Phipps out for a TKO! Devastating finish!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:52 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Anthony Meuniex!
