Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Rodriguez Rodriguez (ranked 2834 p4p, 2711 weight class) and Quentin Hayes (ranked 327 p4p, 310 weight class). The crowd giving both fighters a great reception on their way into the arena. That's good to see.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Rodriguez tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Hayes defends well and Rodriguez ends up having to push Hayes into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.
Hayes looks like he wants to counter punch here.

Rodriguez has been working on his balance at Ragnarok\'s Gym, so perhaps that has help him stuff some of the takedown attempts by Hayes.
Hayes misses with a hook to the ribs.

Hayes manages to break the clinch.
Rodriguez lands a glancing blow to the side of Hayes's head.
Hayes throws a big shot that misses.
Rodriguez fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Hayes manages to avoid it.
Hayes throws a body kick that misses.
Hayes scores with a shot to the body.
Hayes swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Hayes slips in close and lands a nice hook before moving back out of range.
Rodriguez misses with a hook.
Well, he's not going to score with shots like that. A lazy body kick attempt from Hayes.
Rodriguez tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Hayes was well out of range. Poor timing from Rodriguez.
Hayes appeared to try and counter that last move with a leg kick.

Hayes fakes a jab and then connects with a hook.
Rodriguez defending well as Hayes loads up on a big left hand.
Rodriguez feinted with a counter takedown.
Rodriguez wings a very wild body shot but it does the job and lands to the midsection.
Rodriguez misses with a hook. Hayes ducked under it nicely.
Nice straight punches there by Hayes. You know Roy Jones Jr respects the hands of Hayes.
Rodriguez moves out of range of the leg kick from Hayes.
A quick step to the side and Rodriguez tries to counter with a shot to the body but it doesn't connect.
Rodriguez throws a body punch but Hayes moves out of range.
Rodriguez avoids the body shot from Hayes.
Hayes connects with a single shot there.
Rodriguez shoots in but doesn't get the takedown
and Hayes counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.
Quentin Hayes is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Hayes throws a body punch but Rodriguez moves out of range.
Rodriguez avoids the body shot from Hayes.

Hayes rushes in with a sloppy looking punch

and Rodriguez counters with a takedown into side control.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Rodriguez thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.

Rodriguez wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Hayes, who protects the arm well.
Hayes tries to improve position but can't.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Hayes can't do much from the bottom here.
Hayes really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Rodriguez. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Hayes parries the strikes from Rodriguez easily there. Rodriguez is wary of posturing up too much because it might enable Hayes to escape.

Rodriguez is working to tighten his grip on Hayes's neck. He's isolated an arm and is working for an arm triangle. Hayes has recognised the danger and is trying to turn with the submission but Rodriguez is really squeezing tight and eventually Hayes passes out! Rodriguez breaks the hold and jumps onto the cage to celebrate! Submission of the night, I'd say!
