PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between MF Jones (ranked 2126 p4p, 3059 weight class) and Bennett Knightley (ranked 250 p4p, 342 weight class). Knightley has chosen Hang â€˜Em High - NCR as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, MF Jones!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Bennett Knightley!
The judges for this bout are Robert Twigg, George Francis and Gwen Towbar.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Jones throws a leg kick but Knightley sees it coming and checks it nicely.
Jones lunges at Knightley with a hook that half lands and is half blocked by Knightley's hand.
Knightley comes forward and lands a shot to the body, then darts back out of range.
Jones drops his hands momentarily and Knightley takes advantage with a crisp shot to the head.
Jones on the wrong end of a vicious looking body shot.
Jones lands a nice shot to the body.

Jones cracks Knightley with a big right hand that sends him crashing to the floor. Jones has the opportunity to follow him to the ground but instead he's beckoning Knightley to stand back up!
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Jones slips under a jab from Knightley.
A head kick misses from Knightley.
Jones takes a jab right on the nose. That must have hurt but he shrugs his shoulders and looks to return the favor.

Jones cracks Knightley with a big right hand that sends him to the floor! Knightley looks wobbly but he's sprung back up to his feet straight away… can Jones finish him?

Knightley is rocked!
Knightley throws a head kick that misses.
Knightley just misses with a punch to the body.
Knightley looks for the body kick but Jones saw that one coming.
Jones misses with a hook. Knightley ducked under it nicely.
Knightley connects with a slap. Keep your fist closed son.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Jones displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Knightley throws out the jab.
Jones fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Knightley manages to avoid it.
Knightley lunges in with an uppercut that skims his opponent's chin.
Jones scores with a body shot.
Jones connects nicely with a jab. Noted by the judges no doubt.
Jones scores with a jab to the body.
Jones thuds a mid kick into his opponent's body. That will wear on Knightley if he has to take too many more of those.
Knightley looks winded!
Jones tries to land a front kick but Knightley steps back. That was a bit too telegraphed.
Knightley needs to keep his hands up - Jones had a free shot at his head there.

Jones connects with a body shot that sends Knightley's belly button to the back.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Jones throws a low kick but Knightley moves out of range easily.

Jones connects with a solid leg kick.

Knightley misses with a series of wild punches.
Jones fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Knightley manages to avoid it.
Knightley walks straight into an uppercut. Luckily it didn't land flush.
Jones throws a body kick but he was well out of range there.
Knightley lands an overhand right.
Jones throws a hook but Knightley avoids it easily.

Jones feints and then winds up with a huge right hand that connects perfectly and sends Knightley sprawling to the canvas! Knightley rolls over backwards and springs off the cage and manages to regain his footing - how acrobatic! Oh, he's still wobbly - can Jones finish him?!
Knightley is still on wobbly legs! Can Jones finish him?
A jab lands there for Knightley.
Knightley seems to have recovered his senses.
Jones lands a kick to the ribs of his opponent. Nice work there - in and out in a flash.
Jones lands a monster head kick that reverborates around the arena! The crowd goes wild as Knightley crumples to the floor! Jones milks the crowd's applause and if that isn't knockout of the night, I will be very surprised!
