Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Mikheil Berishvili (ranked 795 p4p, 1251 weight class) and Gopnik Skwat (ranked 73 p4p, 117 weight class). Berishvili comes to the cage accompanied by Acharuli Gandagana. Mikheil Berishvili has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 11 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Mikheil Berishvili!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 1 - 1, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Gopnik Skwat!
The judges for this bout are John Kavanagh, Eddie Farnsworth and Russell Pearce.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A slow jab from Skwat misses its intended target.
The fighters circling - Skwat throws out the jab but it was never going to land.

Berishvili checks a low kick. Bone on bone - not my idea of a good time.
Berishvili tries to counter by clinching up but Skwat breaks away and moves out of range.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Skwat must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

Berishvili seems to be moving with more speed, compared to his last bout. He must have been working on that in the gym.

Skwat throws a right and a left that Berishvili avoids nicely.
Berishvili tries to counter by moving into the clinch but Skwat manages to circle out of the way.

Skwat tries to throw a body punch but Berishvili avoids it by throwing Skwat back against the cage.

Berishvili tries to pull guard but Skwat forces him back to his feet, against the cage.

Skwat works for the underhooks and manages to get a trip takedown into guard.

Berishvili looks to be working for a triangle here. Oh, it looks like he might have it! Skwat has picked Berishvili up and slammed him! Berishvili can't keep hold of the triangle and Skwat manages to pass to side control!

You can see the frustration on Berishvili's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
Berishvili is in a bad position, trying to hold on for dear life but he is really struggling to maintain any sort of control.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Berishvili tries to counter by clinching up but Skwat breaks away and moves out of range.

Skwat paws at his opponent with the jab and then lunges in with a straight, right on the button.
Berishvili shakes his hands off, looking to compose himself, but takes a jab to the jaw whilst he does it.

A nice right hand lands inside from Skwat.
Berishvili tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.

Skwat swings wildly with an uppercut but Berishvili uses good head movement to avoid it.
Skwat works for underhooks and lands a body shot in the process.
Berishvili jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Skwat walks away with a smile on his face. Berishvili gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Mikheil Berishvili. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Berishvili ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face.
Berishvili uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Skwat.
Berishvili tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
Skwat was about to counter that last move with a leg kick but changes his mind.

and Skwat counters with a low kick, right behind Berishvili 's knee.

Skwat throws out a counter right but Berishvili avoids it with no problem.

Skwat has been the more effective fighter overall so far.

Skwat throws a couple of head shots and lands with the final one - a decent hook, which struck Berishvili on the side of the head.
Berishvili chopped to the floor by a nice leg kick but he springs right back up before Skwat can pounce on him.

Skwat lands a right uppercut that snaps the head of Berishvili backwards.

Berishvili can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Skwat controls the pace.

Skwat fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt Berishvili.

Gopnik Skwat showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Gopnik Skwat comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Skwat has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
