Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 6 - 1 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Amari Howell!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Atreyu Brooks!
The judges for this bout are Don Winkell, Timothy Bukovac and Jack Bonds.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Howell drives through with a takedown into guard.
Brooks has momentary wrist control but Howell slips an elbow through the middle.
Howell with a nice head shot there.
Howell drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Howell jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
Howell distracts Brooks with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm.
Howell stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Brooks swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Howell working from the guard for now, landing some ground and pound.
Brooks is rocked!
Howell thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
Brooks is still in real trouble! Can Howell finish him?
Howell with a couple of shots to the head there. Not particularly brutal.
Brooks trying to keep a closed guard but Howell is proving a slippery customer.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Brooks manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Howell manages to get himself to full guard.
Brooks must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Brooks trying to control the position from guard on top but Howell is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Howell seems to have improved his submission grappling technique since last time we saw him. Let's see if he can pull off a submission.
Brooks really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Howell. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Howell pushes a forearm under Brooks's chin to create some space. He's escaped his hips and pivoted quickly for an armbar! Can he extend the arm? Yes, Brooks is tapping out! Damn, that was fast!
