PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Barry Parrish (ranked 3739 p4p, 4032 weight class) and Antoine Moreau (ranked 351 p4p, 372 weight class). Antoine Moreau told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Barry Parrish!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Antoine Moreau!
The judges for this bout are Ian Loll, Dillan Fox and Steve Smith.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Parrish misses with a straight left.
Moreau takes a shot to the nose. Hopefully that hasn't broken it.
Parrish lands a nice shot to the body.
Moreau steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Parrish.
Parrish connects with a jab.
Moreau has been spending a lot of time sparring his boxing in the run up to the fight, trying to sharpen up those hands and look for a knockout.
Moreau takes a punch right to his stomach. That took the wind out of him momentarily.
Moreau takes one on the chin but seems OK.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Parrish loads up on a big right hand but Moreau slips the punch.
Moreau is trying to avoid his opponent's strikes and get into the clinch.
Parrish misses with a left hand
and Moreau connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.

Parrish scores with a hook to the body. Moreau takes a step back and tries to catch his breath.
Parrish thuds his right hand into Moreau's forehead from close range. That could be painful for both fighters.
Moreau slips a straight right by Parrish.
Moreau wants to counter the offense by Parrish and move into the clinch position.
Parrish swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.
Moreau ducks under a wild hook from Parrish.
A little jabbing left from Moreau on the counter but it doesn't find it's target.
Parrish lands a jab to the head.

Moreau is rocked!
Parrish throws a hook but Moreau avoids it easily.
Despite the aggression on Moreau's face he doesn't fully commit to the counter.
Parrish misses with a left hand
and Moreau counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.
Parrish is really head hunting here, hardly looking to strike to the body at all.

Parrish swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Parrish throws a big shot that misses.
Moreau wants to counter with a clinch but Parrish pushes him away.
Parrish definitely looks more muscular than last time we saw him fight.
Parrish misses with a right hand

and Moreau holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch.
Moreau doesn't land with the attempted body shot.
A head punch blocked on the inside by Parrish.
Moreau tries to land a shot to the body but it's blocked.

Parrish escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
The fighters circling - Parrish throws out the jab but it was never going to land.
Parrish rushes in with a sloppy looking punch
and Moreau connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.

It looks like Barry Parrish has been cut.
Parrish throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Moreau steps in looking to clinch after the strikes miss from Parrish.
A big left from Parrish misses.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Nice body punch from Parrish.
Moreau moves out of range of the strikes.
Parrish throws a good cross that connects.
Moreau is still on wobbly legs! Can Parrish finish him?
Parrish changes levels and scores with a jab to the body.
Moreau seems to have recovered his senses.
Parrish throws a good cross that connects.
Parrish comes forward and lands a shot to the body, then darts back out of range.

and Moreau counters with a three punch combination, finished off with a leg kick. Nice work.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Parrish drops Moreau with a naaaaasty hook - Moreau is in real trouble here! Parrish dives in to side control and pounds out his opponent for a TKO victory! The crowd goes nuts!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:09 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Barry Parrish!
A less than humble Barry Parrish misjudged his post fight interview somewhat and came across a little too arrogant whilst trying to hype up his own abilities.
