Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Paavo Talvela (ranked 221 p4p, 290 weight class) and Jim Babcock (ranked 29 p4p, 36 weight class). Talvela comes to the cage accompanied by For Heavy Metal we will die!. The crowd seem to be enjoying Babcock's choice of entrance music: San Francisco Live Medley. Well, I have no idea who's going to take this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 23 - 10 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Paavo Talvela!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 16 - 8 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Jim Babcock!
The judges for this bout are Reed Andrews, Bruno Lombardi and Russell Pearce.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Babcock lands with a right hand.
Talvela scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground.
Babcock is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Talvela pulls his head out easily.
Babcock is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Talvela is trying to control the action in half guard but Babcock is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.

Talvela is in a bad position with Babcock working for a choke. Talvela manages to spin nicely into guard and the danger is over for the moment.

The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Talvela connects with a nice short shot to Babcock's temple.
Babcock wants to sweep but Talvela has passed to side control!
Talvela is looking to take a break and control but Babcock is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Talvela lands an elbow.
Babcock tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Talvela wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.

Babcock is trying to control Talvela's posture but Talvela avoids it.

Babcock makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Babcock.

Babcock is looking for a triangle but Talvela pushes his legs off easily.

Talvela changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Babcock tries to avoid it but Talvela manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Babcock to the ground. Babcock escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Babcock throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
Babcock throws a front kick aimed at Talvela's knee but Talvela avoids it well.
Talvela attempts a counter takedown but Babcock avoids it well and moves away.
Talvela lands a jab followed by a nice looking cross.

Talvela throws a right and a left that Babcock avoids nicely.
Paavo Talvela seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Talvela works Babcock's body with a nice hook.
Babcock throws a low kick but his opponent is out of range.
Talvela uses good footwork to get in and out and land a nice right hand before Babcock has time to react.
Babcock displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Talvela throws out the jab.

No luck for Talvela with that takedown attempt.
Babcock looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.

Talvela throws a quick inside leg kick.

Babcock throws the left hand but Talvela avoids the punch easily.

Talvela is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Babcock can do to turn this around?

Talvela tries to close the distance and clinch up but Babcock swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Babcock avoids a punch combination nicely.
Talvela shoots in and gets a takedown into Babcock's guard.

Babcock looking for a sweep. Not yet Babcock, not yet.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Babcock is on top in guard.
Paavo Talvela overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Babcock trying to control but Talvela is working from the bottom.
Talvela looking to hit a scissor sweep but Babcock is one step ahead there.
Babcock wants to control from the top but Talvela keeps moving.
Babcock might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Talvela haven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.
Babcock is working Talvela over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes.

Talvela has an omoplata and is looking to use it perhaps as a submission or perhaps to transition. Babcock is in a bit of discomfort here, but he's managed to free himself and has dived into side control! That didn't work out too well for Talvela.
Babcock swings around for an armbar but Talvela sees it coming a mile off and turns beautifully into Babcock's guard.
Babcock has his foot on Talvela's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Talvela works his way back into a safe position though.
Babcock is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
Babcock had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Talvela defends it easily.
Babcock has managed to work for a loose triangle. I think Talvela should be able to defend this one pretty easily though. Oh, Babcock has tightened it up now! Talvela should have reacted faster there - he's in big trouble and yes, he's tapped out! This one is all over!
