PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Richard John Salvacion (ranked 23752 p4p, 23645 weight class) and Agbay Amiga (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 41 - 54 - 3, fighting out of Las Vegas, Richard John Salvacion!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 36 - 54 - 5, fighting out of Las Vegas, Agbay Amiga!
The judges for this bout are Chris Downing, Cecil Peabody and Wesley Smith.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
We've got one fighter who appears to only be looking to counter and the other not looking particularly aggressive either, so we could be in for a dull fight.
Amiga throws a body kick that misses.
Salvacion quickly followed up with a counter body kick but doesn't connect.
Salvacion shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Amiga as he jumps to the side.
Amiga steps in looking to counter with the mid kick but it doesn't connect.
Salvacion closes this distance looking for a takedown but Amiga circles away.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Salvacion fails with a takedown attempt.
Amiga is trying to counter with his kicks.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Richard John Salvacion. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Salvacion fails miserably with a takedown attempt.

Salvacion closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Amiga's guard.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Salvacion seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.
Amiga manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Salvacion manages to get himself to full guard.

Amiga wanted to stand there but Salvacion had control of the position.
Salvacion is doing well to control the posture of his opponent and prevent any damage.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
Amiga is stalling in the full guard.
Amiga is fighting to break Salvacion's control of his arms but Salvacion is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Salvacion is defended easily by Amiga.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Salvacion stuffs the takedown attempt from Amiga. Amiga gets slowly back to his feet.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Agbay Amiga will probably get the nod.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.


Amiga gets caught napping as Salvacion dives in and scores a takedown. Amiga manages to retain guard.
Amiga wants to sweep here but Salvacion controlling him for the moment.
Salvacion is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Salvacion wants to control from the top but Amiga keeps moving.

Amiga is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Salvacion is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up.

Amiga scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice.
Amiga working the ground and pound but Salvacion is defending the strikes.
Salvacion holds on tight, trying to prevent any damage.

Amiga wants to stand but Salvacion has his arm trapped.
Amiga controls the position from side control.
Salvacion can't do much from the bottom here.
Salvacion gets one leg under and gets the fight to half guard.
Amiga has been the more effective fighter overall so far.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
It looks like Amiga is going to stand back up.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.
Salvacion fails with the takedown.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Amiga shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Salvacion defends it nicely.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Agbay Amiga showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's time! Salvacion's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. Let's hear some noise people - this is the final round!

and Salvacion counters with a solid body kick.
Amiga shoots in for a double leg but Salvacion sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.

Salvacion walks forward, straight into a front kick from Amiga.
Salvacion shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Amiga as he jumps to the side.
Both fighters are looking to counter, which isn't making for the most exciting fight in the world.
Amiga shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Richard John Salvacion has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Agbay Amiga.
Salvacion throws the kick towards the body but Amiga avoids it.

Amiga replies with a solid counter kick to the body but Salvacion blocks it well.
Amiga fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
It appears Salvacion was looking to counter with a kick there.
Richard John Salvacion has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Agbay Amiga is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.

Agbay Amiga comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Amiga has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
