PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Scott Dolton (ranked 1972 p4p, 2656 weight class) and Moses Okafor (ranked 250 p4p, 329 weight class). Dolton comes to the ring accompanied by Paradise Warfare. I can't wait for this one - let's get the fighter introductions out of the way and get this one started!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 14 - 10 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Scott Dolton!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 11 - 8 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Moses Okafor!
The judges for this bout are Skip Squint, Eliza Hachem and Donatello Bradman.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Okafor bobbing and weaving, closes the distance and lands a hook to the side of Dolton's head.
Dolton gets cracked with a nice right hand there by Okafor.
Dolton doesn't succeed with the takedown
and Okafor counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
Okafor throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Dolton feinted with a counter takedown.
Okafor has been spending a lot of time sparring his boxing in the run up to the fight, trying to sharpen up those hands and look for a knockout.
Dolton has a takedown stuffed.
Okafor looks like he wants to counter punch here.

Dolton drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.
Okafor manages to get one leg in to regain half guard.

Dolton is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Okafor is just riding it out for now. Dolton eventually gives up the hold.
Okafor is looking to control Dolton's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Okafor avoid being mounted?

We've been hearing good reports from Dolton's training camp. Apparently he has been rolling around with some good quality BJJ practitioners and has been sharpening his skills. Let's see if that has an impact on the fight today.
Okafor is trying to control the position but Dolton postures up.

The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Dolton in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.
Okafor controls Dolton momentarily but Dolton frees himself.
Okafor utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
Dolton throws a big elbow that misses.
Okafor is pulling down on Dolton's head to control his posture.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.
Okafor misses with a hook. Dolton ducked under it nicely.
Okafor lunges in with an uppercut that skims his opponent's chin.
Dolton takes a really solid shot there but just smiles back and shrugs his shoulders.
Okafor fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Horrible takedown attempt by Dolton or perhaps it was just good defense by Okafor, which made it look bad.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Scott Dolton. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Okafor connects nicely with a jab. Noted by the judges no doubt.

Okafor tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Dolton was well out of range. Poor timing from Okafor.

Okafor comes forward and lands a shot to the body, then darts back out of range.
Okafor cracks Dolton with a nice right hand that draws applause from the crowd.

Dolton closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Dolton lands in his opponent's guard.
Okafor is trying to keep Dolton in close.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.

Dolton is in close to Okafor's body, working some short punches and elbows.
Okafor pulls Dolton in close to prevent any damage.

Dolton drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Okafor dives on top into guard.

Dolton has Okafor pulled in close to control his posture.
Dolton has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Okafor postures up.
Okafor trying to control the position from guard on top but Dolton is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

Okafor would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.
Dolton is pulling down on Okafor's head. It's preventing any offense from Okafor, at least for the moment.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.
Dolton takes one to the side of the head.

Okafor feints a straight left to the body, then turns around with a flashy move and hits Doltons jaw with a dramatic spinning back fist!
Okafor fakes low and throws an overhand right that catches Dolton on the side of the head.
Okafor ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Dolton moves away.
Okafor with a nice cross.
Okafor connects with a jab.
Okafor scores with a hook.
Okafor is landing a lot of head punches in this opening round! Dolton had better start moving his head a bit unless he wants his face to turn into mush.

Okafor cracks Dolton with a big right hand that sends him crashing to the floor. Okafor has the opportunity to follow him to the ground but instead he's beckoning Dolton to stand back up!

Dolton is rocked!
Moses Okafor seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Okafor throws an overhand right that drops Dolton like a sack of potatoes! Okafor dives in to finish the fight with more strikes and this one is all over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 7:38 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Moses Okafor!
Moses Okafor was full of energy after the big win and talked about how he thinks he can do big things in this sport. The crowd were appreciative of his determination to succeed.
In defeat, Scott Dolton stepped up to the mic, saying 'It is a joke? Let's start it over again.'.
