PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Jason Nolan (ranked 23842 p4p, 23883 weight class) and Un Kha (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Kha has chosen Eye of the tiger as his entrance music. I don't know about you partner, but I'm pumped for this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 20 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Jason Nolan!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 8 - 42 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Un Kha!
The judges for this bout are Alan Glass, George Francis and Wesley Smith.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kha tries for a takedown but Nolan sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
Kha looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.

Kha throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Nolan was covering up waiting for the punch and Kha finishes the takedown easily into guard.
Kha wants to control from the top but Nolan keeps moving.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Nolan looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
Connects with an elbow from the bottom, proving to the judges that he's still active off his back.

Kha is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.

Kha trying to control but Nolan is working from the bottom.

Nolan is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Kha defends well.
Nolan keeping moving, preventing Kha from controlling successfully.
Nolan looking to hit a scissor sweep but Kha is one step ahead there.

Nolan working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Kha doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Kha manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Kha is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Nolan thows some rabbit punches from the bottom but they don't do any damage.

Nolan throwing his legs up looking for a triangle.

Kha thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
Kha tries to free his leg and advance position but Nolan is retaining full guard.

Nolan throwing strikes off his back to little effect.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Nolan stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Nolan wants it to stay on the feet.
Jason Nolan has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Un Kha.
Nolan doesn't react quick enough there as he takes a shot to the body.
Nolan shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Kha as he avoids it easily.
Un Kha seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
A head kick misses from Kha.
Nolan misses with a wild combination.

Nolan shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard.
Kha moves into full guard.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Kha is trying to control the position but Nolan postures up.
Nolan throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.
Nolan is sitting in guard, working some ground and pound.
Nolan is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact.
Kha seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Nolan throwing strikes but missing.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Jason Nolan will probably get the nod.
Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin!

Kha fails with a takedown attempt.
Nolan is trying hard to land a takedown here. Kha sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.
Nolan shoots for a takedown but Kha saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
Kha lets it all go there with a big combo counter but none of the punches connected.
Nolan scores with a shot to the body.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Nolan is defended easily by Kha.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Jason Nolan. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Nolan closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Some stalling of biblical proportions here from Nolan.
Nolan tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Kha just stands there and leans against the cage.

Nolan gets double underhooks to prevent a takedown attempt from Kha.

Nolan has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Kha uses from the top position.
Kha looking to sit in guard and control but Nolan gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.


The fighters are working up against the cage. Kha manages to wriggle his way back to his feet, so the fighters are now clinched against the cage.
Kha wants to get back to striking at distance but Nolan won't allow it.
Nolan wants to take the fight to the mat but Kha manages to get underhooks and keep the fight in the clinch.
Nolan tries to break free but Kha pushes him back against the cage.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Nolan goes for a takedown in the clinch but Kha prevents it.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Kha jumps guard but Nolan turns him against the cage and keeps the fight standing.
Nolan is trying to pull guard but Kha turns him against the cage and we stay in the clinch.
Nolan is trying to break the clinch but Kha is controlling him.
Nolan is trying to work for a single leg takedown but Kha pulls him back up using the underhooks.
Kha lands a nice knee to the body.
Nolan tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Kha smiles and moves away.
Kha tries to score a power double leg takedown but Nolan sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Kha somewhat.
Nolan moves to clinch but Kha breaks away
and Kha counters with a one-two to the body.

Kha misses with an attempted mid kick.
Kha shoots in but Nolan avoids the takedown attempt easily.
Nolan wants to take advantage of his opponent's missed offense by moving into the clinch.
Kha leaves Nolan with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
Nolan fails with a takedown attempt.
Nolan stuffs the takedown.
Nolan looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight.
Kha throws a quick inside leg kick.
Nolan really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Kha has his takedown stuffed
and Nolan counters with a right hand to the body.

Kha shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.

Kha postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Nolan is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Kha, into his guard.

Kha is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Nolan is controlling him.

Nolan is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Kha is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Kha has escaped and now he's on top!

Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Kha is pushing down on Nolan's leg trying to pass to half guard. Nolan is fighting to maintain full guard but Kha has managed to sneak the leg through.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Un Kha showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. Ladies and gentlemen, this is the final round!

Kha shoots for a takedown but Nolan saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
Nolan throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Nolan displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Kha.

Kha fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Nolan sprawls well initially but Kha persists and gets the takedown into half guard.

Kha is keen to just control but Nolan is a slippery customer.

Nolan is defending against the submission attempts here by Kha.
Kha has been the more effective fighter overall so far.

Kha seems to be working for a kimura but Nolan defends the submission attempt.
Kha takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

Nolan looking to work for a kimura from the bottom.
Nolan wants to improve his position but Kha is controlling well.
Nolan landing a few short strikes.
Kha trying to pass the guard but Nolan defending well.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Nolan gets full guard.
Nolan is looking to sweep but instead, Kha has passed into half guard.

Kha is actively looking for submissions here but good counter grappling here from Nolan as he works his way to full guard.

Nolan will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Kha passes into half guard.
Kha looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Nolan with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.

Nolan missing with punches from the bottom.
Nolan has hold of Kha's hands but Kha slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow.
Nolan is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Kha's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Kha's back!
Nolan is landing with strikes. Kha can't take much more of this.

Nolan working for a RNC but it's not happening just yet.
Nolan controlling well, preventing Kha from escaping the position.

Nolan looking to break Kha's wrist control so he can sink in the choke. Kha remaining controlled and patient though - he really has to keep calm otherwise Nolan will wrap this one up with the rear naked choke!
Kha trying to get back to his feet but Nolan is in full control for now.

That's four minutes gone in the round.

Nolan is staying calm and holding on to the back position, whilst working on a rear naked choke. Kha is defending well though. Nolan let's go of the attempt for now.

Kha is trying to get back to his feet. He's worked up on to his knees and now he's on his feet with his head on the canvas, trying to shake Nolan off. It looks like it's working - Nolan slides off, much to his dismay, and we're back to standing! Kha displaying calm under pressure there.
Kha tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Nolan defends well and Kha ends up having to push Nolan into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.
Jason Nolan has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Un Kha.
Nolan displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Kha.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Nolan is looking to slow Kha down with leg kicks.

And that's the end of the fight!
I would just about give that final round to Un Kha.
I think Kha has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
