PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Nakagome Kakuzo (ranked 976 p4p, 2203 weight class) and Jimmy Logan (ranked 135 p4p, 257 weight class). Logan has chosen The Wizard as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 18 - 13 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Nakagome Kakuzo!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Jimmy Logan!
The judges for this bout are Reed Andrews, Joseph Jones and Dean Styles.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Logan walks into a straight right hand from Kakuzo.
A swing and a miss from Logan.
Kakuzo lands a really nice looking cross but Logan seems unphased.

Kakuzo closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.

Kakuzo throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Logan's waist but Logan gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Kakuzo off to one side.
Logan cracks Kakuzo with a good shot that sees him stumbling back into the cage.
Logan fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Kakuzo manages to avoid it.

That was a close round but I would say that Nakagome Kakuzo will probably get the nod.

Logan throws a nice looking combination but Kakuzo bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
Logan lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Kakuzo circles away quickly and effectively.

Kakuzo shoots for a takedown but Logan saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Logan got a little sloppy there for a moment and Kakuzo has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Logan has managed to get both his arms back between Kakuzo's legs - danger averted.
