PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Jun Liu (ranked 3587 p4p, 2320 weight class) and Bo Brands (ranked 400 p4p, 288 weight class). I'm sure you'll be fascinated to know that I was talking to some pointless Z list celebrity before the fight and he thought that Bo Brands was going to win. Let's see if he was right.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 31 - 27 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Jun Liu!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Bo Brands!
The judges for this bout are Daniel Bishop, James Ackerman and Colin Fotheringham.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Liu works his jab well there, keeping his opponent at a distance.
Liu dips to his left and cracks Brands with an uppercut!
Liu lands a nice hook to Brands's body. Brands takes it in his stride and looks to land his own strikes.
Brands dives in and grabs Liu's left leg, looking for a takedown. Liu pushes down on Brands's head and hops out.
Liu connects with a right hand. Brands shakes it off.
Brands looks shocked there as he takes a right hand to the temple.
A solid leg kick lands there for Liu.
A cross from Liu lands.
Brands fails with an attempt to clinch.
Brands tries to move into range but Liu moves to the side and lands with a nice right hand.
We've been told by Liu's head coaches at Gumburcules Gym that he's been working on his takedown defense in preparation for this fight.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Brands shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard.

Brands wants to work for an arm triangle but Liu is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.
Liu is trying is best to control the position here.
Brands passes to side control.

Brands goes for an armbar here - this could be all over! But no, Liu has escaped beautifully and is now on top in side control! Oh, that's unlucky for Brands but great work by Liu.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Liu decides to stand back up. Liu steps back and let's Brands get back to his feet.
Brands looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Liu is fending him off so far but Brands persists. Nope, Liu circles away and we're back to standing.
It looked like Liu wanted to counter with a hook but didn't fully commit.

Liu darts in and clinches Brands up against the cage.

Liu stays in close to his opponent and throws a right hand to the body.
Brands jumps guard but Liu stands there with Brands around his waist. Brands gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.
Jun Liu has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Bo Brands.
Brands fails to pull guard.
Liu landing knees to the body. They look like they could hurt.
Liu lands a short shot on the inside that snaps the head of Brands backwards.

Liu lands an elbow that stopped Brands in his tracks for a moment.
A short uppercut from Liu.
A right hook to the body lands for Liu.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Liu throws a blind hook that connects with the side of Brandss head.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Brands tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Liu smiles and moves away.
Brands's hands are dropping dangerously low here and Liu connects clean with a right hook that sends him down to one knee! Brands scrambles back to his feet.
Liu moves into range and throws a lovely three punch combination.
Both fighters circling slowly here as the pace drops. Hopefully one of them does someth.. OOOHHHH!!!! Liu throws an absolute beast of a head kick! Brands is done! He's out cold, twisted and contorted up against the cage! Wow!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:22 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Head Kick). Jun Liu!
An out of breath and clearly excited Jun Liu thanked Stoner's Killer Apparel for their help and support (and free stuff they sent him).
In defeat, Bo Brands stepped up to the mic, saying 'I will Train Harder and Be Back Better.'.
