PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Timmy Tung (ranked 2853 p4p, 4227 weight class) and Bill Johnson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Timmy Tung!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Bill Johnson!
The judges for this bout are Santiago Holmes, Sandra Marshall and David Hoff.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Johnson feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
Johnson slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.
Johnson postures up in Tung's guard and throws a big left but Tung blocks it.
Johnson stays in close to Tung's body and controls the position.
Johnson has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
Johnson sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Tung's guard.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Johnson content to sit in half guard and control for a moment.
Tung knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Johnson on the ground.
Johnson moves nicely into side control.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Johnson just content to control the position.
Johnson landing strikes.

Johnson stands up and we're back to a striking position.

Johnson rushes Tung and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.

Johnson gets control of Tung's arms and successfully pulls guard. Johnson will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back.
Johnson trying to strike from the bottom but really, it's not the best position to be doing that from!
Johnson is pulling down on Tung's head to control his posture.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Johnson wants to stand but Tung is controlling the position.
Tung looking to sit in guard and control but Johnson gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

Johnson controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
It looks like Johnson might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Tung wants to control the position but Johnson says "no thanks buddy" and passes to half guard.

Johnson wants to work for an arm triangle but Tung is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.
Johnson is controlling the pace.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Johnson scores with a couple of good hammerfists.
Johnson slips a nice elbow through Tung's hands, connecting with Tung's forehead.
It looks like Johnson is going to stand back up.
Johnson landing with strikes to the body and head, softening up his opponent.
Johnson passes to side control.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Tung wants to get back to his feet but Johnson drags him back down.
You can see the frustration on Tung's face as Johnson controls the position.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Bill Johnson dominated that round.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.


Johnson gets a clinch.
Tung lands a short shot on the inside that snaps the head of Johnson backwards.
Tung taking a breather.

Johnson has picked Tung up - he's going for a ride! Johnson dumps his opponent to the mat with a thud and settles into half guard.
Johnson slows the pace down in half guard.
Johnson tries to stand but can't do so whilst Tung controls his leg.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Tung is defending against the submission attempts here by Johnson.
Johnson has freed up his trapped foot and advances to mount.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Johnson takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
Johnson has been the more effective fighter overall so far.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, Johnson cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!

Johnson is working to isolate an arm here. It's a telegraphed submission attempt but he's gone for it anyway - and he's got it! Johnson extends the arm and Tung is forced to tap!
