Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Tapad Amiga (ranked 23935 p4p, 23784 weight class) and Rico Salvacion (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 31 - 59 - 4, fighting out of Las Vegas, Tapad Amiga!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 40 - 51 - 6, fighting out of Las Vegas, Rico Salvacion!
The judges for this bout are Tiny Johnson, Alan Glass and Gwen Towbar.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
We've got one fighter who appears to only be looking to counter and the other not looking particularly aggressive either, so we could be in for a dull fight.

Amiga closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Salvacion quickly recovers to half guard.
Well, if Amiga is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.
Amiga's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.
Salvacion is positioning himself well to prevent Amiga advancing to mount.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Salvacion wants to get back to full guard.

Salvacion looks like he's trying to stand up.
Amiga thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Salvacion's head.
The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.
Salvacion is concentrating on defense, preventing Amiga from advancing position.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.
Amiga fails with the takedown

and Salvacion counters with a single leg into guard. Amiga didn't expect that.

Amiga pulls Salvacion in close to prevent any damage.
Salvacion controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.
It looks like Salvacion might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Amiga is pulling down on Salvacion's head to control his posture.
Salvacion content to stall in guard here.
We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.
Amiga looking to control.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
Salvacion shoots in for a double leg but Amiga sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Salvacion fails with a takedown attempt.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

Amiga scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Rico Salvacion will probably get the nod.
That's time! Back to the action!

Amiga closes this distance looking for a takedown but Salvacion circles away.
Salvacion fails to land the takedown.
Amiga thinks about countering with a body kick.
Amiga shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Salvacion sprawls well. Salvacion wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Amiga gets slowly back to his feet.
Salvacion is definitely looking for the counter takedowns here.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Tapad Amiga. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Amiga throws a head kick that Salvacion semi-blocks.
Salvacion shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Amiga but Amiga pushes him off and we're back to square one.

A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Amiga.
Salvacion tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Amiga defends well and Salvacion ends up having to push Amiga into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.
Salvacion slaps away a takedown attempt from Amiga, before circling back to the center of the mat.
Salvacion follows through with a counter body kick but it doesn't land.

Salvacion shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Both fighters are looking to counter, which isn't making for the most exciting fight in the world.

Salvacion fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Amiga to the ground. Salvacion is now in Amiga's guard.
Amiga is avoiding any damage by keeping wrist control.
Amiga wants to hit a sweep here but Salvacion passes into full mount! Oh no, disaster for Amiga there!

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Amiga keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.
Amiga wants to control but Salvacion is having none of it.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Salvacion content just to control the position here.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Rico Salvacion showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. Ladies and gentlemen, this is the final round!


Salvacion shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than Salvacion was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!

Amiga is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Salvacion is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.
Salvacion wants to control but Amiga is keeping him busy.

Salvacion remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while.
The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.
Salvacion is looking to take a break and control but Amiga is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Amiga enables Salvacion to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Amiga manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.
Amiga is doing well to control the posture of his opponent and prevent any damage.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Salvacion controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.
Amiga pulls Salvacion in to control the position.
Salvacion is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.
Salvacion won't allow Amiga to sweep him here.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Amiga bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Salvacion's guard.

Salvacion is pulling down on Amiga's head. It's preventing any offense from Amiga, at least for the moment.
Salvacion looking to hit a scissor sweep but Amiga is one step ahead there.
Tapad Amiga has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Rico Salvacion is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.
