Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Calvin Vann (ranked 4917 p4p, 3862 weight class) and George West (ranked 465 p4p, 413 weight class). Calvin Vann has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Calvin Vann!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, George West!
The judges for this bout are Frank Antenori, Jack Bonds and Percy O'Donnell.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
West misses with a low kick as Vann jumps back.
West getting the better of the striking in that exchange.
West ducks down and throws a hook to the body.
West fakes a jab and then connects with a hook.
West throws a leg kick that is checked
and Vann cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
West's coach down at Doom\'s Gym was telling us pre-fight that they have been working on West's balance. Obviously they view that as a key factor in the outcome of this fight.
West turns his hip over beautifully as he lands a nice leg kick.
Vann shoots in looking for a takedown but West manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Vann's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
West bobs and weaves and throws out a fast jab that snaps Vann's head backwards.
West paws at his opponent with the jab and then lunges in with a straight, right on the button.
West scores with a jab. Vann acknowledges it with a nod of the head.
West lands a pitter patter jab to the forehead of his opponent.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
West fakes a jab and throws a low kick but Vann checks it well.
Vann drops down looking for a counter takedown but West sprawls and moves away.

Vann throws a body kick but he wasn't in range.
West scores with a crisp jab that stopped Vann in his tracks.
West avoids the head kick by Vann.
Vann tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but West swivels and escapes.
West goes for a double leg but Vann avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Vann continues to drive forward.
West is moving around nicely and scores here with a single head shot.
West slaps away a takedown attempt from Vann, before circling back to the center of the mat.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Calvin Vann. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Vann is breathing heavily.

Vann looks shocked there as he takes a right hand to the temple.
West connects with a nice looking jab.

West uses good footwork to get in and out, landing a nice hook.
Vann gets cracked with a nice right hand there by West.

Vann throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around West's waist but West gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Vann off to one side.
West lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
Nice body punch from West.
Vann on the receiving end of a decent leg kick there by West. West obviously looking to wear him down.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
West moving in and out of range nicely, whilst landing the scoring shot.
West's jab looks to have found its range, popping Vann under the eye.
Vann throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around West's waist but West gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Vann off to one side.
Vann looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight.
West feints a straight left to the body, then turns around with a flashy move and hits Vanns jaw with a dramatic spinning back fist!
West is landing a lot of head punches in this opening round! Vann had better start moving his head a bit unless he wants his face to turn into mush.

Vann looks shocked there as he takes a right hand to the temple.
The crowd cheers as West lands an impressive looking overhand right. Vann doesn't seem phased though.

West scores with a jab to the head.
West bobs and weaves and unloads with a good uppercut.
Vann dives in for a single leg takedown but West sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage.

West breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Vann has his head snapped back a nice jab. A little nod from Vann there as he acknowledges the shot.
Nice uppercut there from West.
West scores with a shot to the body.
Vann is pinned up against the cage taking some big shots here. The referee is looking closely deciding whether he should stop the fight.

Vann is rocked!
West with the inside leg kick.
Oh Vann is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
West lands with a nice low kick. That'll leave a bruise.
Vann seems to have got his legs back now.
West connects with a looping left hand that seems like it dazed Vann momentarily.
Vann takes a really solid shot there but just smiles back and shrugs his shoulders.
West looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
As West looks to move away, Vann throws a big counter combo but West just gets out of the way.
West lands a head shot.
Vann takes a jab on the nose there. A little bit of blood seems to be coming out. Hopefully that won't affect his breathing.
West attempts a low kick but it misses it's target.
A jab lands there for West.
West's corner calls for a 1, 2 combination and West duly obliges.
Vann shoots in but no luck this time.
West drops Vann with a straight right hand, right on the button! West follows him down to the mat and pounds him out with hammerfists until the referee jumps in to end the fight!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:05 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). George West!
George West was full of energy after the big win and talked about how he thinks he can do big things in this sport. The crowd were appreciative of his determination to succeed.
