PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Vincent Hoffman (ranked 4125 p4p, 25000 weight class) and Marcello Britten Jr (ranked 358 p4p, 0 weight class). I don't know about you partner, but I'm pumped for this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Vincent Hoffman!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Marcello Britten Jr!
The judges for this bout are Nard Betker, Wagner Zegers and Daniel Blasius.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Britten Jr avoids a punch combination nicely.

Hoffman throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Britten Jr was covering up waiting for the punch and Hoffman finishes the takedown easily into guard.
Hoffman connects with a couple of short punches.
Britten Jr trying to keep a closed guard but Hoffman is proving a slippery customer.
Hoffman is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Hoffman passes Britten Jr's left leg - he's now in half guard.

Still in half guard, Hoffman seems content to control.
Britten Jr holds on for dear life, maintaining half guard for now.
Hoffman takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Hoffman is trying to work for a kimura but Britten Jr is defending well.

Britten Jr is trying to maintain the position but Hoffman is very close to passing his half guard.

Hoffman stands, ready to strike. The ref makes him back up and allows Britten Jr to get to his feet.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

Hoffman shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Britten Jr's guard.

Hoffman gets to his feet - Britten Jr follows without any prompting.
Hoffman pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Britten Jr tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Hoffman paws at him with a jab and circles away.

Hoffman closes the distance and pushes Britten Jr back into the cage.
Britten Jr wants to break the clinch but can't.
The referee calls for Hoffman to work.

Hoffman successfully pulls guard.

Hoffman working for submissions but it's allowed Britten Jr to get to half guard.
Hoffman is not content to let Britten Jr control the position.

Britten Jr is working for a kimura but Hoffman is defending it quite comfortably.
Britten Jr lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears.
Hoffman might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

Britten Jr is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Hoffman is looking to control Britten Jr's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Hoffman avoid being mounted?
Hoffman makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Hoffman.
Britten Jr trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Hoffman looking to control the pace of the fight rather than finish it.
Hoffman wants to sweep but no luck.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Hoffman needs to keep his hands up - Britten Jr had a free shot at his head there.

Hoffman's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Hoffman avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Hoffman has his front leg slapped to the side - a nice low kick landing there from Britten Jr.
Vincent Hoffman is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

Hoffman shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Britten Jr is trying to defend but Hoffman finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.

Britten Jr is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.

Hoffman postures up and decides to stand up, from the half guard. The ref calls for Britten Jr to stand up.

Hoffman has Britten Jr up against the cage in a clinch.

Hoffman has one foot on Britten Jr's thigh - he pushes off and manages to get back to his feet.

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Britten Jr gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Hoffman to score an easy takedown into full guard.

Britten Jr wants to break free but Hoffman has control.

Hoffman gets the body lock takedown. After a quick scramble, Britten Jr regains guard.

Britten Jr kicks Hoffman off and gets to his feet.

Hoffman decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.

Hoffman is trying to work for a kimura but Britten Jr is defending well.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Hoffman seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.
Britten Jr is pulling down on Hoffman's head. It's preventing any offense from Hoffman, at least for the moment.

We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.
Britten Jr throws a couple of shots from the bottom but they don't land.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.

Hoffman keeps the fight on the outside.
Britten Jr misses with a takedown attempt - Hoffman sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.

Britten Jr is looking to control Hoffman's arms but Hoffman gets an underhook and turns him. Now Britten Jr has his back to the cage.

Hoffman has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Britten Jr uses from the top position.

Well Hoffman has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
