Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Rubens Charles (ranked 3935 p4p, 3903 weight class) and Rodtang Jitmuangnon (ranked 351 p4p, 259 weight class). Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Rubens Charles!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Rodtang Jitmuangnon!
The judges for this bout are James Ackerman, Sam Margolis and Phil Schofield.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Charles shoots in and gets a takedown into Jitmuangnon's guard.
Jitmuangnon is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Charles controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.
Charles postures up.
Charles trying to control the position from guard on top but Jitmuangnon is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Charles will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Charles stays in close to Jitmuangnon's body and controls the position.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Jitmuangnon is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.

That's one minute gone in the round.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up.
Charles shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Jitmuangnon as he avoids it easily.

Charles gets a clinch.

Jitmuangnon breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Charles shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Jitmuangnon defends it nicely.

Jitmuangnon takes the fight into the clinch.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Charles is trying to work for a single leg takedown but Jitmuangnon pulls him back up using the underhooks.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Rubens Charles. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Jitmuangnon drags the fight down to the ground.

Jitmuangnon escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Charles gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Charles won't allow Jitmuangnon to get back to his feet.
Charles scoring with punches to the head and body.
Charles seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.
Jitmuangnon is pulling down on Charles's head. It's preventing any offense from Charles, at least for the moment.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Jitmuangnon controls Charles momentarily but Charles frees himself.
Charles wants to get up but he can't break Jitmuangnon's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.
The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up.
Nice sprawl there from Charles as Jitmuangnon shoots in.
Jitmuangnon tries to clinch up but Charles circles away and keeps his distance.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Jitmuangnon is defended easily by Charles.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Charles is looking to take this fight into the clinch.

Charles closes the distance and clinches.

Charles pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.

Charles moves into the clinch successfully.
Charles tries a body shot but Jitmuangnon blocks it.
Jitmuangnon tries to pull guard but Charles holds him up against the cage and eventually Jitmuangnon drops back down to his feet.
Charles misses with a punch to the body.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Jitmuangnon is working on a leg, looking for a takedown but Charles is defending well.
Charles wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Jitmuangnon has him pressed against the cage.

Jitmuangnon breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Rubens Charles dominated that round.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.

Horrible takedown attempt by Jitmuangnon or perhaps it was just good defense by Charles, which made it look bad.

Charles feints and as Jitmuangnon raises his hands in defense, Charles changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
Charles is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
Jitmuangnon not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Jitmuangnon seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Charles is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact.
Jitmuangnon manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Charles manages to get himself to full guard.

Charles lands an upkick as Jitmuangnon stands over him.

Charles not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Charles is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Jitmuangnon gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent.
Jitmuangnon dives in and grabs Charles's left leg, looking for a takedown. Charles pushes down on Jitmuangnon's head and hops out.

Charles gets a clinch.
Jitmuangnon tries for a takedown. No joy.
Rubens Charles has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Rodtang Jitmuangnon.
Jitmuangnon is breathing heavily.
Charles is defending well against a takedown attempt.
Charles is trying to pull guard but being pressed up against the cage enables Jitmuangnon to keep the fight standing.
Jitmuangnon tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.

Charles has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Jitmuangnon uses from the top position.
Rubens Charles overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Charles bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Jitmuangnon's guard.

Charles is looking to stand up but Jitmuangnon won't let him.
Charles seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Charles accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Charles missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.
Jitmuangnon is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Charles is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Jitmuangnon can do to turn this around?
Charles is stalling in the full guard.

Jitmuangnon has an active guard here but Charles has managed to pass into half guard.
Charles is pressing down on Jitmuangnon's thigh, looking to free his foot. Jitmuangnon is holding on for now.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Charles looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.
Charles seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Jitmuangnon for as long as he can get away with.
The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.
Jitmuangnon pushes Charles off looking to stand but Charles dives back in and keeps control.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.

Charles misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Charles throws a right and a left that Jitmuangnon avoids nicely.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Rubens Charles dominated that second round.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! Ladies and gentlemen, this is the final round!

Charles dives in and grabs Jitmuangnon's left leg, looking for a takedown. Jitmuangnon pushes down on Charles's head and hops out.
Charles stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Charles wants it to stay on the feet.
Jitmuangnon tries to clinch but Charles moves away

and Charles counters with a shoot takedown. Jitmuangnon fights it but they end up in guard.

Jitmuangnon really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Charles. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Charles postures up.
Charles not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

Charles shoots in for a takedown and gets it.
Jitmuangnon takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
Jitmuangnon on the receiving end of some nice ground and pound.
Charles takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.
Charles tries to pass the half guard into mount. Jitmuangnon knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Charles takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists.
Charles prevents Jitmuangnon from improving his position.

Charles seems to be working for a kimura but Jitmuangnon defends the submission attempt.
Charles throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.
Charles is taking a breather. Jitmuangnon says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.
Jitmuangnon is trying to control but Charles passes into side control!

Charles wants to stand but Jitmuangnon has his arm trapped.
Charles controls the position.
Charles trying to control the position but Jitmuangnon is working away.
Charles staying calm.
Charles wants to control but Jitmuangnon is keeping him busy.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.
Jitmuangnon looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.

Charles clinches up against the cage.

Jitmuangnon's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.

Charles gets tackled into the cage by Jitmuangnon. Jitmuangnon maintains the clinch.

And that's the end of the fight!
Rubens Charles showed his dominance in that final round.
Well Charles has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
