Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Rubens Charles (ranked 4000 p4p, 4050 weight class) and Tournament Fighter (ranked 354 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters really staring each other down here, as Tournament Fighter enters the cage!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Rubens Charles!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Tournament Fighter!
The judges for this bout are Chris Edwards, James Ackerman and James Glass.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Fighter misses the body punch

and Charles counters with a nice double leg into half guard.
Charles is looking to pass Fighter's guard but actually Fighter recovers to full guard.
Charles slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Fighter is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
Fighter looking for a sweep. Not yet Fighter, not yet.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Fighter trying to keep a closed guard but Charles is proving a slippery customer.
Charles is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
A low kick from Fighter misses

and Charles counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Charles.
Charles wants to get up but he can't break Fighter's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.
Charles pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Fighter is keeping the position for now.

Charles gets to his feet - Fighter follows without any prompting.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Charles closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Fighter did well to prevent Charles getting side control.
Charles looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Fighter with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.

Charles is trying to work for a kimura but Fighter is defending well.
Charles thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.
Charles missing with some ground and pound from the half guard.
Charles looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Fighter with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.
Charles with a momentary lay and pray from half guard.
Fighter wants to control the action here but instead Charles manages to pass to full mount!

Charles dominating with strikes here.
Fighter is trying desperately to improve position.
Charles with the ground and pound from mount.
Fighter tries to hold on but Charles postures up.
Charles landing punches.
Fighter tries to hold on but Charles pushes him away.
Charles postures up and cracks his opponent a couple of times before moving back into close ground control. Fighter looks a forlorn figure.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Charles scores with a couple of good head shots there.
Charles mounts Fighter! Really nice guard pass there!
Charles controlling the position easily from mount.

Charles has hold of Fighter's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and Fighter manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Charles takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin!

Fighter swings away with a leg kick that misses.
Fighter scores with a body shot.
A big right from Fighter misses.
Fighter connects with a body shot.
Charles looks to score with a jab to the body but Fighter is just out of range.
Charles drops his hands momentarily and Fighter takes advantage with a crisp shot to the head.
Fighter throws a head kick that misses

and Charles counters with a nice double leg into half guard.
Rubens Charles overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Fighter trying to control from the bottom.
Charles is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen.
Charles uses his free foot to push down on Fighter's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Fighter.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Fighter is looking to get to half guard.
Charles is looking to stand but Fighter has his arms wrapped tightly around him, looking to prevent the damage.
Charles controlling the pace for now.
Fighter wants to control but Charles is having none of it.
Fighter suckers Charles into throwing a sloppy strike and uses the momentum to reverse the position beautifully! Fighter is now in Charles's guard!

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Charles is doing well to control the posture of his opponent and prevent any damage.
Charles is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.

Fighter stands over his opponent and dives in with a flying punch! Charles throws up his legs and catches Fighter in a triangle! Oh this looks tight! Fighter tries to escape but he's forced to tap! Wow, fantastic work there by Charles! That came out of nowhere!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:54 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Triangle Choke). Rubens Charles!
