PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Vance Green (ranked 4087 p4p, 4081 weight class) and Frank Herman (ranked 437 p4p, 436 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Frank Herman!
The judges for this bout are Dean Styles, Jorge Garcia and Eddie Farnsworth.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Both fighters are only really looking to counter, so after a good 30 seconds of circling each other endlessly, the referee has stepped in and told them both to be more aggressive.
Herman defending well as Green loads up on a big left hand.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Herman looking to score a takedown here. Green is defending well but Herman drives through and ends up in Green's guard.
Herman slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

Green really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.

Green looking for submissions from the bottom but instead Herman passes into half guard.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
Green is doing well to control the position and prevent Herman from advancing to side control.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up.

Herman scores with a takedown into Green's guard.
Green is avoiding any damage by keeping wrist control.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Herman looking to control the position here, rather than advance.

Green has his foot on Herman's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Herman works his way back into a safe position though.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare each other down, ready to get back to the action.


Green gets caught napping as Herman dives in and scores a takedown. Green manages to retain guard.
Green has his hands on Herman's head, controlling the position.

Green is looking for a triangle but Herman pushes his legs off easily.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

Herman manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Green on his heels. He'll look to pass Green's guard now, I'm sure.

Herman is in a good position here but he's just trying to control... And he's not even managing to do that successfully.
Green seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

That's time! Green's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. This is the final round!

Green throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.

As Green backs off Herman throws a huge counter combo but Green manages to avoid it all.
Green wants to clinch up but Herman keeps it at a distance.
Herman tries a counter takedown but it's more of a dummy move, and he uses it to push himself away.
Herman has been the more effective fighter overall so far.

Herman gets caught flat footed, as Green shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.

A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Herman holds on and takes a little breather.
Green controls from within his opponent's guard.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Green seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.
