Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Max Wood (ranked 4988 p4p, 25035 weight class) and Junes Saki (ranked 406 p4p, 455 weight class). Man, I cannot wait for this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Max Wood!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Junes Saki!
The judges for this bout are Shigeki Fujiwara, Sosuke Kotani and Taro Takaoka.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Wood bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
Saki is trying to stand back up. He's worked his way up against the cage but Wood has just dragged him back down to the mat.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Saki wants to get back to his feet.
Saki tries to buck Wood off but Wood is having none of it.
Wood in side control lands a decent elbow.

Saki is trying to get back to half guard.
Saki really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Wood. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Wood working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.

Wood's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Wood has knee on belly and moves into mount.
Saki tries to reverse the position but Wood maintains control.

Wood looking for an armbar but decides to keep the dominant position instead.
Wood blocks Saki's feeble attempts to strike from the bottom.
Wood tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.
Wood lands a nice shot to the head.

Wood jumps to side control looking for an arm triangle but Saki manages to avoid the submission attempt.
Wood lands a few punches from side control.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Saki is trying to escape the position but Wood is controlling the position.
Wood is putting a hurting on Saki here, landing some big shots from side control.
Wood wants to stand but Saki is controlling his arm.
Wood staying calm.
Wood has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Saki is looking to regain half guard here but Wood keeps moving and retains side control.
Saki struggling a bit here.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.

Wood has control of an arm but Saki manages to advance to Wood's back!

Saki looking for the choke but no joy.
Wood manages to reverse the position and now he's in Saki's guard. Nice work there by Wood.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Wood got a little sloppy there for a moment and Saki has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Wood has managed to get both his arms back between Saki's legs - danger averted.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Wood is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Max Wood dominated that round.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.

Saki looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.

Wood looking for a takedown here - he's got it.
Max Wood overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Wood slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.
Saki wants to sweep here but Wood controlling him for the moment.
Wood passes Saki's right leg, so he's now in half guard.

Wood has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.

Wood is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.
Saki is trying to stand up here but Wood is controlling him well.
Wood tries to pass the half guard into mount. Saki knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

Saki looking to work for a kimura from the bottom.
Wood takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists.
Wood controlling the pace.
Wood landing with strikes to the body and head, softening up his opponent.
Wood performing his best blanket impression for a moment.
Saki is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Wood looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Saki with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.
The referee calls for the fighters to work.
Wood is working hard to pass the guard. He's done it - he's now in full mount! Trouble for Saki!

Wood looking to isolate an arm here. Saki doesn't see it coming and as Wood extends the arm, he's forced to tap out! Nice submission by Wood!
