Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Stephen Cargot!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Byron Northview!
The judges for this bout are William Peck, Robert Douchet and Trevor Gratis.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Northview throws a right hand that Cargot ducks under and follows up with a left that Cargot also avoids with ease.

Northview drives through with a takedown into guard.
Northview wants to control from the top but Cargot keeps moving.

Northview drops back, looking for a kneebar! Cargot looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Cargot looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Cargot!

Northview tries to get back to half guard but can't.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Northview is trying to control Cargot's posture but Cargot avoids it.

Northview is trying to improve his position.
You can see the frustration on Northview's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Cargot turns his hip over beautifully as he lands a nice leg kick.
Northview lands a jab, followed by a cross and another cross, as Cargot backs up against the cage.
Northview looks to land a left hand but Cargot moved out of range nicely.
Cargot doesn't manage to clinch there - Northview circles away.

Northview shoots in and bounces Cargot off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.
Northview distracts Cargot with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm.

Cargot wants to stand and escape but Northview is having none of it.

Cargot knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Northview on the ground.

Northview drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Cargot dives on top into guard.

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Cargot is looking to stand up but Northview won't let him.

Northview has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Cargot can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
Northview will have to put a bit more behind his punches if he's going to do any damage from this position.

Cargot avoids a guillotine attempt easily.

Cargot got a little sloppy there for a moment and Northview has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Cargot has managed to get both his arms back between Northview's legs - danger averted.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Northview shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than Northview was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!

Northview has hold of Cargot's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and Cargot manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.

The referee warns Cargot that he has to improve his position here as he takes two more clean shots to the head.

Northview looks like he's working for a submission but he's not found anything just yet.

Northview jumps to side control looking for an arm triangle but Cargot manages to avoid the submission attempt.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Northview working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.

Byron Northview showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. This is the final round!

Cargot takes advantage of some sloppy striking from Northview to pass into mount.

Northview sneaks a leg back under and regains half guard and is working straight away to try and get back to guard. He hasn't managed just yet though.

Northview tries to kick Cargot off but Cargot keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.

Northview is looking to sinch up a gullotine here but Cargot pulls his head out easily.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Stephen Cargot has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Cargot prevents Northview from improving his position.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.

Cargot clinches up with Northview and pushes him back against the cage.
Northview is trying to drag Cargot to the mat but Cargot just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.
Byron Northview is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
Northview is working for takedown but Cargot is calmly controlling the position for now.
