PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Walter Hartwell White (ranked 3663 p4p, 4019 weight class) and Antonio Reyes (ranked 365 p4p, 392 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Walter Hartwell White!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 4 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Antonio Reyes!
The judges for this bout are Viktor Lagutenko, Valeri Chadov and Fedor Mirinova.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Hartwell White lands a nice shot to the body.
Reyes takes one to the chin there.
Good standup being displayed there by Hartwell White as he connects with a hook.
Hartwell White bobbing and weaving, closes the distance and lands a hook to the side of Reyes's head.
Nice body punch from Hartwell White.
Hartwell White fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Reyes manages to avoid it.
Nice takedown defense from Hartwell White. No joy for Reyes on that attempt.
Reyes needs to keep his hands up - Hartwell White had a free shot at his head there.
Reyes lands with a nice body punch.
Reyes takes a really solid shot there but just smiles back and shrugs his shoulders.
We can't be sure of the tactics at this early stage but we have heard that Reyes has been working on his takedowns a lot in the buildup to the fight and we can only assume he's going to look to take this to the mat.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Reyes throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Hartwell White's waist but Hartwell White gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Reyes off to one side.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Reyes with poor footwork there. He got himself in a bit of a tangle, enabling Hartwell White to score with a decent uppercut.

Reyes throws a hook to the side of Hartwell White's head but Hartwell White sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.

Hartwell White uses good footwork to get in and out and land a nice right hand before Reyes has time to react.

Antonio Reyes seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Reyes uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Hartwell White.
Hartwell White lands with a nice body punch.
Hartwell White lunges at Reyes with a hook that half lands and is half blocked by Reyes's hand.
Hartwell White bobs and weaves and throws out a fast jab that snaps Reyes's head backwards.

Reyes shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Hartwell White is trying to defend but Reyes finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.

Hartwell White is doing well to avoid being mounted. He's controlling the position at the moment.
Hartwell White is refusing to be controlled, as Reyes sits in half guard.
Reyes missing with some ground and pound from the half guard.

Still in half guard, Reyes seems content to control.
Reyes wants to stand up but Hartwell White has a hold of him and won't allow it.
Hartwell White has his hands clasped together around Reyes's back. He's all about the action.
Reyes throwing shots but Hartwell White is blocking nicely.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up.
The crowd applaud the fighters' efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Reyes shoots in but doesn't get the takedown
and Hartwell White counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.
Walter Hartwell White has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Antonio Reyes.
Reyes throws a nice looking combination but Hartwell White bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
Hartwell White darts in and out, connecting with a jab.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Reyes drops his hands momentarily and Hartwell White takes advantage with a crisp shot to the head.
Hartwell White drops Reyes with a naaaaasty hook - Reyes is in real trouble here! Hartwell White dives in to side control and pounds out his opponent for a TKO victory! The crowd goes nuts!
