Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 7 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Kai Gold!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 3 - 0, fighting out of New York, Lee Murray !
The judges for this bout are Fedor Mirinova, Ivan Kurochkin and Valeri Chadov.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A punch lands to the side of Murray 's head but he takes it in his stride.
Gold jabbing away but nothing is landing.
Murray looks like he wants to counter punch here.
Murray throws a sloppy body shot
enabling Gold to counter with a crisp jab.
Murray bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.
Murray follows through with a counter body kick but it doesn't land.
Murray misses with a hook to the body

so Gold counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.
Gold trying to control but Murray is working from the bottom.
Murray working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Gold.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Murray can't keep his opponent in guard - Gold advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.
Gold missing with some ground and pound from the half guard.
Murray felt the need to train up his defensive grappling in the buildup to the fight. Presumably he was expecting to be in a difficult position like this, so let's see if he can get out of it.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Murray can do anything to dispel that myth.
Murray is looking for a sweep. Gold is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

Hammerfist, elbow! yells Gold's corner. There ya go! There ya go!
Gold wants to control from the top but Murray keeps moving.
Murray looking to control the pace of the fight rather than finish it.
Gold throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Murray works some decent striking defense from the bottom.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.
Gold throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Murray sees it coming and avoids it easily.
Murray let fly with a counter punch to the body but it didn't land.

Gold throws out a powerful jab.
Murray ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Gold moves away.
Gold lands with a cross.
Murray darts in and out, connecting with a jab.

It looks like Kai Gold has been cut.
Gold misses with a hook.
Murray throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Gold avoids the body shot from Murray .
Both fighters are looking to counter, which isn't making for the most exciting fight in the world.
Murray misses with a double jab.

Murray throws a right hand that misses

and Gold counters with a takedown into side control! That could mean trouble for Murray !
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Gold throws an elbow but Murray slips to the side and avoids it well.
Gold has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
The ground and pound from Gold seems to be hitting the mat more than his opponent.
Gold throws a strike aimed at the side of Murray 's head but Murray avoids it well.
Gold lands a decent elbow from side control.

Gold in side control, trying to ground and pound but not landing this time.
Gold tries to score with some ground and pound. Murray controls his posture well this time though and the shots don't do any damage.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.

and Murray counters with a straight right hand.
Murray tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Gold was looking to counter that move with a punch but didn't quite pull the trigger.
Murray tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Gold was well out of range. Poor timing from Murray .
Gold seem to be loading up, looking for a big counter.
Murray misses the shot to the body.
A little feinted left hand from Gold on the counter but he doesn't commit to it.
Kai Gold is winning the standup battle so far.
Gold slips under a jab.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Gold moves out of range as Murray strikes.
Gold throws a combination that misses
and Murray counters with a thumping low kick.
Gold throws an overhand right that lands on Murray 's shoulder, as Murray tries to avoid the shot.

Murray scores with a straight right hand, right through his opponent's guard.
Gold swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.
Murray throws a fast counter high kick but Gold manages to duck under it in time.
Gold looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight.
Murray rushes in with a sloppy looking punch
and Gold counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.
A cross from Gold lands.
Lee Murray is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Gold throws a lazy uppercut
and Murray cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
Gold throws out a token jab with nothing on it.
A nice side step and Murray releases a counter shot to the body, but it doesn't find it's home.
Murray 's hands are dropping dangerously low here and Gold connects clean with a right hook that sends him down to one knee! Murray scrambles back to his feet.

Murray fakes a head punch and goes low to the body. Nicely done.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Gold.
Murray scores with a jab. Gold acknowledges it with a nod of the head.
Murray misses with a kick to the body.
Gold appears to be looking for a counter takedown.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Murray throws a mid kick that lands with a slap.

Gold moves out of range of the strikes.

Murray takes a jab right on the kisser.
Murray throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Murray displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Gold throws out the jab.
Murray just misses with a punch to the body.

Gold shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Murray defends it nicely.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Kai Gold. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Gold takes an uppercut right on the jaw but it doesn't phase him.

Kai Gold's cut is getting worse.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Murray takes a punch right to his stomach. That took the wind out of him momentarily.
Murray misses with a double jab.

Lee Murray showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action! This is the final round!

Gold feints and as Murray raises his hands in defense, Gold changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
Murray has control of Gold's left arm, preventing Gold from doing any damage.
Murray wants to sweep here but Gold controlling him for the moment.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Gold throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.

Gold trying to control the position from guard on top but Murray is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Kai Gold overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Gold stands and throws Murray 's legs to the side, diving into side control.
Murray avoids any damage from the ground and pound of Gold.
Gold looking to control but instead Murray has slipped a leg in, to regain half guard.
Murray keeping hold of Gold's head, controlling as best he can.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Gold thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.
Gold not throwing his punches with enough precision this time.
Gold not landing any meaningful shots this time.
Murray keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound.
Gold drops an elbow to the side of Murray 's head.
Gold sitting in half guard, looking to land shots. Murray defending well though.
Gold with the ground and pound but Murray uses the opportunity to regain guard.

Gold is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.
Murray utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
Gold chips away with some ground and pound.
Gold throws a big elbow that misses.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Gold postures up in Murray 's guard and throws a big left but Murray blocks it.
Murray is trying to control the position but Gold postures up.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up.
Gold bobs and weaves and throws out a fast jab that snaps Murray 's head backwards.
Gold gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily
and Murray counters with a nice uppercut.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Murray throws a couple of head shots and lands with the final one - a decent hook, which struck Gold on the side of the head.
A looping hook to the body misses from Gold. Murray does a little dance to reset his feet.
Murray is looking for the big counter here.
Murray avoids a lazy jab quite easily.
Murray flicks out a counter leg kick but Gold steps away.
Gold tries to score a power double leg takedown but Murray sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Gold somewhat.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Murray lands a jab to Gold's midsection.

And that's the end of the fight!
Kai Gold showed his dominance in that final round.
I think Gold has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
